All these characters keep getting back stories but I dont give a single fuck about any of them. They just waste screentime. Luffy takes up the majority of the panels while the rest of the strawhats suffer. It just seems like there is no more development from the strawhats anymore after the timeskip and the only thing they get is power ups. What happened to Chopper's struggle to become useful for the strawhats? Oda doesnt know and shouldnt do large scale arcs with tons of people. Oda lost his touch.

Chopper's dream is to be able to cure anything yet Oda had him fail to do anything that isn't basic like blood transfusion or putting bandages. Law and Vegapunk had to cure the children in Punk Hazard at his place despite the fact we had a whole dedicated to him promising Mocha he would cure them. He also failed to save his captain from poisoning and Reiju had to bail his ass out.
We're over 80% of the fucking story ffs, he should be doing impressive medical shit instead of being used to hype others characters. Rumbe balls are impressive but it was invented pre-timeskip...

Length of the series makes it more and more daunting for new readers to get into it. Drop in quality means the existing readers aren't enjoying it.
Oda is doing what a lot of writers naturally do, expanding the story as it continues. It's great for world building and adds complexity to the plot, but almost always leads to bloated storytelling. Dialogue, backstories, fight scenes; everything gets longer but not necessarily better. Most writers see the problems with this and try to limit how much it affects their writing. Oda isn't even trying.
