What WAS disputed is the insane scales of sacrifice reported by some sources and the sadisticness of the practices, and as time has gone on it's only increasingly become clear that sacrifice occured at way lower frequencies and were less brutal then most popular sources often said, which IS something that's supported by current research to increasing degrees as time goes on.
