It's because with all the drugs he did he accidentally discovered a chemical combination that blocks out part of the arrows' power, namely the part that makes it so Stand users are drawn together.
While in some crack den, he was without even realizing on the verge of discovering a drug so pure, it transcends Fate itself. But then he lost that mad vibe and it caused him to meet up with Pucci.
Very sad.

I imagine if Giorno isn't there to heal the victim right as they die it wouldn't work, and if the victim themselves didn't have crazy willpower shit going on.

Bruno was super lucky in that respect but even he's only running on borrowed time at this point.

As it is, it's basically the same deal with Josuke's powers, if the soul is legit gone ((like when his grandfather gets killed)) he can't really do anything, but if he gets the healing done fast enough ((like with Okuyasu)) it can still pull the soul back in before its fully disappeared.

Not really, but even stands that are meant to be weak will still generally have the same strength as a normal person, which would make those kicks hurt anyway.

Honestly it's kind of the opposite, considering that in this part, a lot of the stand users are hiding away somewhere else for most of the fight/have an ability that makes them hard to reach would mean that Fugo's close range virus wouldn't really be helpful, or rather it'd be more of a danger to his own team most of the time ((unless Gio can make them all immune))

Even against some of the close range fighters he might be screwed over, Grateful Dead was in a closed in space with a lot of innocent people, and White Album could control exactly what air got into the suit so he could just avoid the virus altogether.

The virus didn't create the Stands; the virus came to Earth through the Asteroid because it felt attracted to mankind's potential to use Stands.
Stands are inherent to Earth's living beings; some are able to awaken them while others need help (the arrows). And as Koiichi and Echoes demonstrated, you can "cheat" by healing someone who shouldn't be able to develop a Stand.

That's more or less what it is though, Kars making magic rock artefacts and combining it with a gem somehow upgrades you to have godlike powers.

What? We see what happens, Bruno just got lucky in that Gio was right there when he died, and he had enough willpower to get his soul back into his body. It's conveyed pretty clearly that Bruno's body was basically just running on borrowed energy and that his soul was degrading anyway.

Basically the same as what happened when Josuke heals Okuyasu except 4 is 'the lighter' part so Okuyasu doesn't turn into a zombie.

Giorno fixed Bruno's body, but it was Bruno's sheer will power and refusal to die that brought him back. Abbacchio accepted death, in the fact that he died in peace knowing the gang could push on forward

It's not like I'm trying to say that it has a realistic, scientific reason for how it works, but we are given an explanation for it.

If anything, Purple Haze is underpowered.
Yeah, it's a one hit kill, but it's not like a human can survive a solid hit from most short ranged punch ghosts. And while most punch ghosts have a way to get closer to the opponent, Purple Haze just has the virus. It can only land killing blows, not make those killing blows any easier to land.
The virus isn't even an instant kill, since his opponents still have 30 seconds to hack off a limb or formulate a vaccine or just kill him since he's already close enough.
And Fugo's not even immune to his own attack, so the chances of him just getting himself killed are more than 0. He doesn't even seem to have much control over Purple Haze, so it might go crazy and kill him by mistake without his input.
Fugo wouldn't have been useful in most of the other fights in part 5. Hell, he was barely useful in the MitM fight. Giorno was carrying him the whole time and he just landed the finishing blow.

This, Purple Haze kind of sucks even in it's own fight. if you tried to insert him into basically any fight past that he would be more of a danger to himself and his own team/other innocent people than a danger to the actual enemy.

Green Day is basically just Purple Haze but good, since it's long range so you can just sit back and wait till everyone dies.

Epitaph cannot predict what happens as a result of Diavolo erasing time with King Crimson. He would need to be able to use Epitaph just before he stopped erasing time, but he clearly can't do that otherwise Bruno would never have escaped.

Risotto would probably try and leg it right then and there, but he'd probably be a lot easier to find than the boss would be since he has an actual identity and was known to the gang.

Gio and co would still have to go and fight him though, since he was basically the same as the boss in that he didn't give a shit about how the drug trade was hurting people and just wanted mad money. He'd probably end up getting destroyed, too, at least as long as Narancia is there in the fight.

He also took away his muscles

Diavolo intentionally threw scalpels at Narancia to draw aggro. It wasn't just him coincidentally killing Risotto at the right moment. If Narancia wasn't around, Doppio could have focused on escaping and regrouped, but the gang being around, and Abbachio being there, meant they were on a time limit.

Narancia is actually not quite a one-trick stand. The story does this funny thing where in his first fight, they focus more on his opponent working out Aerosmith's tracking, and then afterwards all his opponents know this trick ahead of time. Even then, against Crash and Talking Head, he surprised me by remembering his Stand is a plane, with a functioning bladed propeller. Aerosmith is just fine.

Honestly the best strategy would be getting right up close to Fugo himself with KC so that Fugo can't use PH without endangering himself, and using the surprise to do a killing blow like he did to Bruno. In the case where Fugo doesn't know how KC works it would make it even easier.

All of Bad Company's troops suck though, their bullets are barely even comparable to being shot from far away with a BB gun. You need a good enclosed space to actually be able to trap your enemy and do any decent amount of damage, and even then, if your enemy has a halfway decent stand they can still stand a decent chance of winning.

At least Aerosmiths bullets actually do the damage of real bullets, AND it has a bomb to do a lot of widespread damage, it's fast, agile, long range and can potentially even track your target/scan the area for potential threats coming at you as long as the place isn't super crowded.

Its only real advantage is the detection. Useless in a place with lots of passersby

I feel like if Rissotto just came to the higher ups, without any kind of backing from Periocolo or Doppio, and just said "Uhh yeah I'm totally the boss" they'd be a smidge suspicious, especially if both of them were just incidentally murdered around the same time, along with all of Diavolo's personal guard.

As it is, he could just use force to put himself at the top at that point since there's no one high enough in standing to stop him from doing it.

Why would Risotto be fighting them? He doesn't need to. And if he did, he would sneak up on them when they don't expect it (surrounded by more people than themselves) and spawn razors inside Narancia's brain. Once he is dead, he can take out Giorno -> Mista -> Trish no problem. Bruno would end up mutilated but probably not dead, but after he would see all his companions dead, his soul would give up and move on.

I imagine if you made your search for them known then they would find you.

As it is, they had Bruno's gang computer, could potentially contact people through there, and there would be enough people investigating what happened to Pericolo that their paths would be bound to cross at some point.

Hard to say, Pericolo seemed like a special case in how trusted and loyal he was, I don't know how many others in a criminal organisation would be so loyal as to risk their lives rebelling against a new leader when the old one is already dead.

When Bruno was donutted, Giorno was tracking the boss so he knew when shit was going down and got to Bruno fast enough. When Abbacchio died everyone who wasn't in the turtle was busy looking for the boss and they didn't know it had happened so it took longer to get to him. That and Bruno refused to die when Abbacchio reluctantly accepted the fact after seeing his old cop buddy and realizing he had done his job. Kinda an asspull but it kinda makes sense too.

Pretty much, it’s basically the same thing that happened in 4 where Josuke could save Okayasu because he got to him fast but wasn’t able to save his grandfather who was dead for at least a few minutes.

Only real difference is that 4 was more lighthearted so Okuyasu wasn’t turned into a zombie.

I actually didn't care for part 5 all the much. I could never really liked many of the characters besides Diavolo and Narranica. The fights were great don't get me wrong, some of the best stand fights in the series were in part 5.

But in terms of characterization and character writing, part 7 really did it for me. I can count the number of characters I didn't think were good/well developed on one had. The setting and premise were also extremely interesting.

Seeing the fight between Johnny and Alt World Diego was also amazing. It was like the Johnathan v. Dio fight we never got.
