It’s a bad adaptation, terrible execution in almost ever scene, gimping them of their impact. Fucking awful pacing and timing scenes never quite work as intended it caused me physical pain every time they butchered a scene when some surprise attacked garou.
The klang sfx is fycking awful, literally everything from the production to the direction is some of the worst I’ve ever seen.
All that being said, the source material and it’s ideas are so strong that no matter how badly the anime executed it there still some level of entertainment value because the script story beats and characters are so well done.

Berserk on the other hand hasn’t had a remotely interesting story beat, character interaction or idea in over 20 years.
The adaptation is pretty work in terms of animation but everything else is quite faithful, it’s just the script is so fucking awful and anons are subconsciously realizing it now seeing this scene years after they read it.

So yes it’s a worse adaptation but a better show by a land slide. Thread/

I can't believe anyone actually likes that shit. My only guess is they somehow fool themselves into thinking camera movement = high quality production or something and subconsciously think they're supposed to like it when in actuality it's just fucking annoying.

I am not feeling it with the SFX (sound) direction, it's really fucking bad, this scene is genuinely good (for the most part) but the sound effects during it that drown the music are trash.

If you are going to make an anime entirely in CG, why the fuck not make it actually 30-60 unique rendered frames per second? I can understand why most hand draw animation only has 3-8 frames per second (0.25 in OPM S2), but WHY apply the same restriction to a CG series?

i noticed something while watching opm s2. most jc apologist said "they were saving the budget for the action scenes" but i feel its the opposite. all non action scenes eg: people running, walking, looking at things, normal movements, etc. its pretty well animated and looks good, but every action scene has lower frame count, a shit ton of filters and after effects, and some very noticeable cgi thrown around.
that said, its still above average for the current season and better than many other airing shonen. not as good as s1 and not as good as the manga but good enough to be enjoyed, if you lower your standards for the occasional 3 - 4 seconds long cgi scene with filters, the rest is pretty okay

Animating good combat is hard. Animating good SoL isnt as hard. Thats why they add a bunch of shitty effects to combat to hide the imperfections.
I also noted that the comedic timing and pacing for slower moments is MUCH better than the pacing for combat. The joke at the very start of the season, about action figures, Kings confession, people getting into saitamas house and chilling. All play much better than the fighting scenes

Also JC staff "okay" animes are all SoL with some lewd on the side. Very little action, so i guess they have no fucking idea how to animate combat, while they have some know-how in other genres.

I'm just infinitely disappointed that we had one shot for Suiryu to get Animated and JC will completely butcher it, ruining what could have been the best series of fights in all of animation, never to be redone by anyone else.

Yep, OPMs setting and characters and its light hearted attitude is a catalyst for some of the best written and choreographed action i've ever seen, everything season 2 is supposed to adapt is absolutely top tier, amazing action set pieces, tons of creative shots and scenes, and they'll be shit on with bad direction and animation and it's actually depressing to think about.

It's completely garbage 90% of the time though, it takes itself far too seriously, fights are aimless and have no sense of weight to them, literally just flashy lights and colors. They turn mob into some moralfag preacher giving common sense to complete retards, the show has nothing to say about any of the themes it tackles and comes off as completely forced most of the time.

Trying to be serious is a dangerous line to cross, and one fucked it up with mob.
Luckily he keeps the tongue and cheek light hearted ton of OPM all the way throughout, he can have genuinely excited and interesting fights(thanks to murata, and his god tier anatomy and choreography), whilst never crossing the line and taking things to seriously.

Opm season 2 is good so far. People only hate it because the studio making it changed, but they didn’t even do anything noticeable to the anime other than add characters
