The anime is an entirely different beast to the comic so unless it has nostalgia value I don't see why you'd bother. Then again it is still good old cell animation. Alfred J. Kwak might be more entertaining for grown-ups.

I've got a pretty cool Moomins related story that happened a few years ago.
>cashier at the liquor store I go to tries to befriend me
>he seems pretty cool, so we make plans to go out to the bars one weekend
>ends up wanting to go to a gay bar after we made plans to go somewhere else
>whatever, my gay friends have dragged me out there before
>'okay, whatever' is my decision even though sirens are going off in my head
>he insists he's straight the entire time (he's probably not)
>we end up buying a few rounds and we're starting to get pretty loaded
>end up going to an even gayer party bar downtown
>caters to men and women so I spend my time watching the lesbo strippers while he sings karaoke
>he seems pissed that I ditched him when he finds me
>suggests that we go back to his place around 2am
>'okay, that's cool, but I need to get my stuff first'
>end up ditching him again at his car and run a few blocks home while hammered drunk
>I sober up a bit and find out he's been calling me constantly around 4am
>he ends up having his roommate picking me up so I can come to his place so we can smoke and chill
>I'm high as a kite and turn the clearly sexual conversation into us just chilling in his room
>convince him to put the Moomins on in his shitty basement room
>he keeps asking me about my dick, but I'm high as a kite (it's Moomin time)
>give him a play by play on why I think the Groke is the most sympathetic character in the franchise
>he's clearly unimpressed and goes to sleep disappointed
>I watch an hour or so more worth of episodes and smoke what's left in the bong
>talk to his roommates on the way out - they're actually pretty cool
>walk home and block his number
>never go back to that liquor store again

Bump because I'm interested too. I've been thinking of reading the comic for a while now and there's a huge deluxe edition that I've been eyeing. Also in my experience Japs seem to think them very cute especially women
