This season is so fucking shit that I didnt even start this show.
It's a pile of shit too right
It's a comfy show.
God I wish that were me
Seriously, why didn't she get another romantic interest to indicate her moving on from Kyo, that's the biggest "Why didn't you do this" I felt from this series especially considering practically everyone else ended up with someone
No, it's actually my AOTS
Wrong
No
Find a flaw
Subs never
There's one already.
finally some best girl.
yep, I was right.
I want her to beat me up and then take care of me.
Bdsm 101
Dess dess.
I'd skewer her, with my dick.
I wanted to read the manga for fruits basket because it caters to my "Multiple couples/romances" fetish but could never get over the mangas art style. This anime looks better, but I think its like a sequel? Is there still a good ammount of said couples in the anime or did some get shaved off? Should I just cowboy up and read the manga?
>'right-handed jab'
Embarrassing translation. Honestly, without exaggeration, the worst thing I've ever seen. Everyone involved in this production ought to be ashamed.
>This anime looks better, but I think its like a sequel?
It's a remake, not sequel. Go watch it.
>Rie Kugumiya
If she appears from now on more often, I'll drop the show.
Poor cat.
ok
Seen the original. Is there any point?
Original is incomplete, this one is a full adaptation.
It's weird that my first anime crush is back.
The point was that she didn't move on from Kyo. The idea was that she started out with a shallow love and it became something real, if she had moved on during the series then it would've made it look like she never actually cared about Kyo at all, so she was put into "mourning" over it after her arc ended.
Momiji didn't get someone for a similar reason. He's trying to be like Tohru and the guy in the story he tells, so he wasn't allowed to actually get anything he wanted, but he's happier for it all the same because he's accepted that he won't and his perspective has changed.
Why is everyone so heterosexual in this show
>he doesn't know
Poor piggu
the original is less than 30 percent of the manga
oh come on you didnt do the part where she combos him off the ground
I think you're lost buddy, Sarazanmai aired yesterday.
Did they introduce the fried egg thing this early during the manga?
>original
1st adaptation wasn't faithful to the manga and didn't even finish the story.
I love that slow fade into the ED they do every episode.
I don't think so, I don't remember Tohru and Kagura walking home at night after buying food.
Kyo x pond is my OTP so far.
Shigure is best boy and best DILF
The new anime is a remake. There is however a sequel manga with different characters that may get its own anime soon
How are they going to cover the whole manga if they keep the same pace the original adaptation had?
They're probably going to have multiple seasons. 3 seasons around 24 episodes each sounds about right.
Oh nonononononono
Well it's a Shoujo manga.
I wanted to read the manga but the scans everywhere are shit
He's not wrong.
Isn't this still true in Japan though?
How didn´t he develop stockholm´s syndrome?
ekhm
very intense case of being a boy in a shojo manga
It's in the Goddess.
>/our guy/
Hey guys it's me Rat-kun. Just came to say Cat is shit and hope you all have a awesome day!
Or maybe Tohru is just being retarded.
>ywn do the helicopter with kagura
Why live
>Called Fruits Basket
>No gay characters, just 3 who crossdress for different reasons
You can easily find used volumes of the English manga for cheap, or get them through a public library
What's wrong with this? I don't get how it's a bad for a woman to want to marry.
She wasn't keeping him as a prisoner or isolating him from other people, she was just asserting her physical dominance over him in a display of love. You can't make someone love you just with violence, you have to cut them off from normal social interaction until the stop considering that there are ways of living that don't rely on maintaining your goodwill as well.
There's nothing wrong with a girl wanting to get married
It's making it the ULTIMATE FINAL DESTINATION for a girl's life that's gets iffy like it's their one and only goal in life especially since it gets portray SO much in a bunch of girly shows aimed for girls it's almost a lame cliche
Fruits Basket is shit, I'll never read it nor watch it.
So the zodiac is a den of incest and homosexuality? Are we going to meet god and he's basically just Yea Forums?
I like Tsubasa o Motsu Mono and Hoshi wa Utau way better
>you'll never crash a complete stranger's intimate birthday celebration with her cousin
why live
>3rd kid
Who do you think is the lewd one in that relationship?
Oh shit. I totally forgot about this one. Really liked what I read of it and didn't even realize it was Takaya.
You do meet "God" eventually - the character is emotionally unstable and has a complex from a confused and traumatic childhood. Very violent and abusive character who likes imprisoning certain other characters and making them feel worthless and scared.
So what is the horrible fucked up thing Kagura did to Kyou which is why she doesn't deserve to win again?
Not being the self-insert.
Being a domestic violence machine
Shinji and Kaoru?
Should I watch the older series first? Thinking about picking this up, but I don't mind going through the story twice.
I have too much time on my hands
Why not, go for it.
Feel like comparing adaptations? Go ahead! It was good in its own right but it's not what Takaya wanted.
The older series is much heavier on comedy than any other version if that's your thing. Lots of chibi, superdeformed faces for your amusement, and some reverse harem fanservice humor - then catapults into an emo WHAT IF I'M REALLY A MONSTER, WHAT IS THIS ANIMAL I HAVE BECOME???? ending at the last moment. Watch it with your brain off.
Never watched the original series. Because they can't embrace each other, do they rely on artificial insemination, incest, or bestiality for reproduction?
I don't remember the mechanics but there were a lot of cousins dating cousins in the Sohma family
thanks, user
Thanks, guys. I'll watch both series. Probably in tandem to give me something to do between episode releases.
Kagura appears on like 5 different occasions. The Valentine's chapter. The Cat's true form chapters. The I'm a selfish bitch chapter. And the punching Tohru because she's retarded chapter. She wasn't even invited to the summer vacation
No the fried egg thing was in the "confession" chapter where she says that she was better off than someone who amused themselves by drawing eggs in the dirt. It's probably foreshadowing to the fact that she was actually pitying him at the start
It's funny because not a single girl in the series has that specifically as a goal. Even Tohru said she wanted to graduate and start working not get a husband and stay at home
The good thing about shoujo is that the cast usually fucks and pumps out children immediately
being a selfish bitch. Kagura has a lot of depth for a "rival" love interest but she's kind of a shit person
>implying Kyo and Tohru's babies weren't planned
His taste is shit
Look at how much love he has in his eyes!
Abe???
Why does Tohru flirt with everyone?
>ywn see Tohru sneaking up on and raping a shirtless Kyo
Because it's a reverse harem anime, and she's the harem protagonist
Healed Cat gives me the strength to reread the manga
This show is a relic of the past. Kinda worthless now for the most part, but nostalgic
>rat will never distract you with some homoerotic skills
Cute and pure.
it's not and she's not
Other people fall in love with her besides Kyo?
>ywn be able to read the Kyo healing arc again for the first time
Momiji is the only other one
In the original anime Shigure makes some weird jokes hinting he thinks about boning her and she seems weirdly interested in crossdressing Momiji.
Also very sure the manga was written to show a choice between Kyo and Yuki for her as well. There were a lot of coin tosses and bets when the final volumes were coming out about who the final canon pairing would be.
Does he ever confess to her?
user the mother relationship was established around chapter 70 or 80. No one was debating who she was gonna end up with in the end
Did anyone else notice how bland Fruits Basket another looks compared to original Fruits Basket?
It actually looks like Takaya stopped drawing background details almost entirely. There are several rows of panels with no furniture, wallpaper, or windows. Very strange.
>Yuki
>streaming
You make me sick.
Don't, it's filled with woke shit anyway.
>it's filled with woke shit anyway.
what
What the hell are you even talking about
Momiji should be gay and date the guy with white hair
I'm disappointed with pacing, how far will this season go ?
Nope, he never confesses, though given how close they are along with Tohru's nurturing personality, I'm not sure that she would have had the heart to turn Momiji down. She might have dated him just to keep from hurting him.
That would be crueler than rejecting him. Tohru isn't that type of Shoujo girl. She would have given him a thought out response and still tried to maintain a good relationship with him
>a thought out response
Which would have been about as effective as a doctor at a hospital trying to soften the blow by 'tactfully' telling a patient's loved ones that he or she had died.
>and still tried to maintain a good relationship with him
Implying that 'hanging out with him all the time after rejecting him' isn't basically torture.
It's just the retelling of Fruits Basket. It's pretty faithful to the manga, so far. If people crying and turning into zodiac animals when hugged by the opposite sex is your cheese, go for it.
Oh user, wait until you find out the truth about Akito.
cucked by a cock
Overwhelmingly intense self-loathing
Most women still dream of marriage. Or a giant wedding where they're the center of attention anyway
>zodiac is a den of incest
Yes. That's the point. They're forced to be around each other and God for their whole life.
Kyo's suffering is composed of extremely low lows, with most of his time being pretty okay actually, so he had other emotional connections keeping him relatively well adjusted. The contrast is Yuki whose suffering is just a constant string of man this kind of sucks.
Zodiacs don't often have children. But doggy style is always an option with non-zodiacs.
>No one was debating who she was gonna end up with in the end
I wouldn't say debating, but there were a shit ton of dedicated Ratfags that couldn't give up on their ship.
PIG ASSAULT
2019ver is so mono-tone and boring.
2001ver is so fucking hilarious and hysterical. I just prefer the gag in the old version better. 2019 takes itself too seriously and yeah yeah the writer is consulting this shit and what not but this is such a forgettable anime if it didn't come from a manga that sold well
It’s not but it should be.
>There were a lot of coin tosses and bets when the final volumes were coming out about who the final canon pairing would be.
Anyone who couldn't see it was kyou was retarded. Though some shoujo hacks change the guy based on reader response.
Why does he turn into a fuckin alien though
It's true in most places in the world and hasn't diminished at all in the west. The reason why fewer people are getting married isn't because women don't want to.
Should've gotten shaft to do it all experimental like
While I`m enjoying the show I see what you mean. It doesn't help that the ost isn't anything special and the OP/ED are just throwing a bunch of generic sentimental phrases together + slow tempo to pretend they have some deep meaning. I'll gladly watch it every week and it won't stress me with a rushed ending and Akito but I doubt it will have half the memorability 2001 had.
Who is best girl and why is it Akito?
>People mad because of that line
That's stupid. What's with "modern women" and their insecurities?
What, the rat guy doesn't fall for her?
Worst everything
Wife material
Yeah I think she burned out
So let me get this straight, he is basically saying that despite all his rage he's still just a rat in a cage?
How come the original from 18 years ago is so much better?
files.catbox.moe
Akito wants to keep the cat in a cage
Rat's old VA sounds too gay.
>Kyo turns into a scary giant Cat-Gollum near the end of the 2001 anime and is changed back only by the power of Tohru's love
>This happens in no other version
Explain
Why is Tohru wearing shoes indoors, OP? Very impolite.
>that goofy fucking thing
>scary
Why are dumb girls so cute?
>everything is shit
> this show that I haven't watched can't possibly be good right?
The Sohma curse isn't exactly passed down genetically. That is to say, the nature of the Zodiac Curse, both with it's out of family complications and in family ostracization, means most cursed members don't have kids. Their curse often prevents close relationships outside the family, which tends to promote the family's stranglehold on their lives, and people in the family may know but they basically think you're fucked usually any way. And since they can still turn you into an animal with hugs, as I recall, anything close with them is also fraught with problems. It can get worse, the Cat is eventually always put under house arrest and basically forced to live alone for the rest of their life. Even the rat, often considered super special often, doesn't really escape the problems that come with physically turning into an animal.
The curse however only manifests in Sohma family members. There's just this huge extended clan that provides the raw fodder to eventually give birth to these fucks. These sorts of things crossover: Kyo's adopted Dad was the nephew of the last cat, for instance. After Kyo was abandoned by his birth parents, though I think his birth dad kind of keeps in touch.
Double dubs. This is a lot more ridiculous than I recall it being in the manga, though perhaps that's just the animation of it.
Fucked worst girl
the author hated the comedy of the previous anime. Hey I know it's a joke but why do people keep saying that the previous anime is better? An adaptation that does not even reach volume 9 of more than 20 will never be a good adaptation
God, this is vintage.
>Implying FMA 2003 wasn't widely received as a good creative adaptation until FMA:B came out and Brotherhood fans started shitposting 24/7
man I watched the show and read the manga when I was a kid
now I'm an adult and its being readapted
nostalgia mang
Because the previous anime stopped at before the manga took a nosedive in quality?
Or you could just kill yourself, you blind retard.
>
the manga was great throughout
I want a bore raping cat doujin that ends with them married
smells like dog
shigure would make a good daddy
He's a DILF for sure
I want to be held and petted by him while calling him daddy
*breaths in* no way fag
>you'll never meet someone like Tohru who just really wants to get to know you better for whatever reason
As food, yes. As a lover, no.
His stuff keeps getting broken.
Dub actually changed this.
Piggu is disgusting. God a best.
I haven't watched the original, but this is unironically the show I look forward to the most each week.
>OP is 10/10
>ED is 11/10
How did they do it? I'll be super mad when the second OP and ED roll out.
I was considering skipping it without even giving it three episodes after reading the synopsis. I'm glad I was bored that day and checked it out anyway because it's become one of my favorites this season.
Torhu a closet thot
Delete this, Tohru is pure and cute.
I find that hard to believe, it wouldn't fit the personality we've seen so far at all
The manga improved after the the True Form part. That's when all the characters actually started to develop
That happened in the manga too user. It just played out differently
Be happy. Tohru is too pure for disgusting people like us. We would only soil her.
Yeh it was just a boilerplate revese harem for awhile until Kyou winning became obvious
You can have sex without embracing. Heck, even missionary position.
Barely anyone thinks the end or Shambala is good material. They butchered many of the characters, especially the Homonculi and Hohenheim, and left open-ends to many plot points. Of course up until Hugh's death the first anime was better, then it went off the rails.
Excluding Kyoudai the OST and OPs/EDs for Brotherhood were superior.
I liked what they did in the 2001 version. It's a burden Kyo's carried for his entire life and they at least tried to portray that to the viewer even if that form looks silly as fuck. The manga just blows through it like it's nothing in one fucking chapter and I couldn't give that aspect of Kyo's life any fucks because of that.
I liked the parallel world gimmick, the exchange of energy thing always bothered me. Manga was too End of Evangelion inspired.
How so? It was pretty down-to-earth much more straightforward than EOE, and is like an AI in a sense. A soul yanked from the beyond into reality by humana wants to know "why" he exists from actual God (not humanity, because Father himself doesn't define himself as human, ergo the existence of the Homonculi to shed his humanity and sins) and will do anything to do so.
Isn't vague or pretentious like EOE, which Instrumentality in itself is not a foreign concept to sci-fi. The most recent Deus Ex video game talks about it, so does Dune, The Expanse, etc.
I've seen shitty Doctor Who episodes pull off a better parallel worlds thing. The Witcher book series and even fucking Shield Hero do it better.
The imagery itself and everything. It felt like a two-dimensional EoE for people who couldn't understand EoE. No twists or hooks at all. Although leading up to that the manga/brotherhood ending is far superior.
>no twists
I thought Amestris being a giant transmutation circle was the twist? And thst Hohenheim planned for countering this for decades if not centuries?
You could also say EOE was copying many other previous works in its imagery too. Most art is derivative.
I do agree the manga is the superior adaptation to both in art.
I mean in fairness to 2003 the manga was still being written when they were like half way through so they decided just to try to write the rest themselves
She said ミギステレート, why do you blame translators for that?
Why is it in katakana?
So EOP plebs could understand.
Good plan
I like her voice.
Her character is also nice. Why isn't Kyo attracted to a girl who is stronger than him? They could practice martial arts together.
>tohru
>pure
She fucks cats.
Because she ambushes him and it's unsportsmanlike
hell no
She threatens his masculinity. He's got a massive complex over Yuki being stronger than him, so obviously he would be even more embarrassed about a girl being stronger
I guess you do have a point.
>tfw you're so slept that a 20 year old shoujo manga is woke to you
>I like her voice.
You and everyone else. Rie Kugumiya is great.
yeah this season is terrible, million arthor is the best
Most of the people saying this shit aren't slept, they're in a terminal coma
What do you mean? The first FMA looked like pure villain-of-the-week filler with generic shonen fight scenes up until Hughes' death. It actually improved once they revealed how Rose from the pilot episode was related to transmutation circles and the philosopher's stone conspiracy.
Do you think this was before or after she destroyed their relationship? I feel like she wouldn't have had to threaten him if it was before
I actually like the way they showed the scene when she first befriended Kyo. They framed it as her doing it in a innocent way, only to assumably reveal it later that was a lie
the worst you mean
But Momiji ended up getting married, he has a daughter who looks like him too. In the sequel Kagura is one of the few characters who didn’t get paired off with anyone. It was her and Ritsu who weren’t couples off with anyone.
I mean they all end up married and popping out babies so Abe certainly approves.
He tried to ambush Yuki.
They probably could have just translated it as "right straight". It sounds a bit better. Either way Tohru's babbling in this scene was annoying here and in the original.
>ywn fall asleep at night while imagining Kyo, Shigure, and Yuki all taking turns running a train on Tohru
Oh, wait, that is actually the sweet dream I had last night
>ywn be kyo watching your wife have sex with a bunch of hot guys but unable to join in
Doesn't she have fucked up hands or something? Like isn't that why she took a break in the middle of the original manga's run and when she came back the art was so different suddenly?
This Fruits Basket remake is so good.
Didn't Ritsu get teased with Shigure's editor?
>muh Cat zodiac Made me alone and I cant relate to people buh uh! That why Im angry all the time!
>actually has a home, four people from his family that tolerate him(until now), is popular and friendly at school and a cute girl was head over heels for him since childhood
Am I supposed to like Kyo? He is coming out as a stupid and spoiled brat in this ep.
>ywn see Cat and his precious waifu separated because they're both dumb idiots made for eachother
Feels so good
I don't see what's so good about him either. Maybe he develops later on but right now it's just annoying watching him.
why is he so cute?
Rewatch the episode, Kyo tolerated her until she started spouting about his true form.
He was super abused.
You might find you still don't empathize once everything's out and that's fine too. He's very rough around the edges but that does change.
Source material is kind of old and that message probably still flys in Japan.
No all the "animals" are "found" in each generation. They aren't related by blood.
Sounds accurate really.
His family(that he lives with and otherwise) members don't actually like him. It'll get into that later. Also there's a reason he hates Kagura like he does now after having a really good relationship with her as kids. in fact she's the reason he's angry all the time
Japan ranked 110th on Global Gender Gap report 2018.
This one seems pretty outdated and bland. I don't understand why people call this a shoujo masterpiece.
They're all members of the same larger family though, and I'm pretty sure any non-bloodline outsiders were rare.
protect his smile
It doesn't need protecting
he is best boy
Maybe if you're worst girl
I'm a guy, not a girl
but Shigure I go gay for
i-its not gay if I say no homo
Are you a guy or are you just pretending like worst girl
guy
I have a dick
literally everybody in this fucking animu is a faggot , thot or retarded. Only the kyo guy is based and someone i can relate to but he gets too much shit. I unironically hate the new girl and there was no reason to let her stay around after trashing their house.
>muh stronk female character that beats up male character for no reason but its okay cus its cute and totally not abuse
>inb4 seething incel
I'm sure you'll like Haru.
Haru is bisexual
What?
Sure why not
