Rutile had the most important thing in his life taken from him, and (from his perspective) turned against him by the Lunarians so it makes sense that he’d go rage mode. But I feel like he’s gotten too much development for his character arc to end here, especially after the internal monologue about taking Padpa to the moon and the weight behind their encounter during the raid.

I think it might come up again in the future when the Admirabillis on Earth are found, or just because Phos isn't on the moon anymore and the moon gems have no reason to care about the wellbeing of the Admirabillis. They might take genocide as the quicker option despite being able to wait them out if they wanted, so that could put a time pressure on Phos in some upcoming arc.

I doubt that he was looking for permission, and I doubt that he sought Phos out himself. More likely to me was that Euclase encouraged it, and he just went along with it because that's the way he is. If he did seek out Phos, the only reasonable explanation I can come up with for it is that he wants to pass on the full story and Phos is the only one who can make that happen.

Yellow's main flaw is being a coward so that makes sense. Given how the other references to enlightenment that have turned out to be misleading/subverted in the end like Phos' Maitreya pose, I don't think this particular development is going to result in something pleasant. Perhaps Yellow is going to become ruthless to achieve his goals, or will have given up on trying to achieve anything at all.

I don't think Euclase is going to take the initiative on rebuilding Phos, someone else is going to have to start it. Probably nobody on Earth and most of the moon gems would try to get Phos rebuilt without the situation changing drastically

The only gem I can think of that could even attempt that would be obsidian, because the rest of the gems are stuck in their ways by nature - none will change their minds or course of action now they've all buried Phos, and Obsidian is the only one remotely distanced from this latest chapter.
We may end up with SEA ARC SEA ARC though, if the Phosboxes rot and the admirabilis eat Phos again - she could reform into a unified gem rather than as a collage of different semi-rare crystals if that was the case

Exactly. and I'd rather be called an absolute retard rather than to tarnish the good name of Buddhism as it stands. If I understood chapter 77 correctly, then the authorization to command Adaman to pray could be gained simply by asking with a "please." I take it until this point everyone else has tried to force him into praying instead of asking polity. Phos was the same. First he tried to force him, and only afterwards he tried the peaceful approach. That was his mistake.

Just in case, you probably mean this pose? Its just about meaningless because its not representing a mudrā. I'm not referencing the position of Yellows arms, but the general posture. By doing the abhayamudrā for instance, which is what this gesture seems to refer to, you either stand or sit straight. Here you can see clearly that both the position of Yellows body and hand does not represent this specific mudrā, or any mudrā. The position of the other arm doesn't fully matter if you're standing upright, but this is not in the positon of paṭākā handposition, which is part of the abhayamudrā.

But what might be interesting is that the "straight up hand" position of the abhayamudrā, called paṭākā. The literal teams of this means cracking, such as cracking of a shell. It could be a reference of Yellows mindstate, but I really doubt it in this case because almost none of this resembles a mudrā in a literal way.

Yes, it might mean something has cracked inside Yellow, which now forces her to act. We can't really fully determine what this next action might be though. It could be something regarding another character or it could even be something like suicide or something that might lead to Yellow getting destroyed, but thats very a wild headcannon.

Jouney to the West isn't something i recommend when finding for clues on how the story of houseki might progress. However I think this is the most conprehensive sutra in regards to potential Houseki spoilers: bdk.or.jp/document/dgtl-dl/dBET_ThreePureLandSutras_2003.pdf which is the Tripiṭaka, which is basically the universally understood canon when it comes to mythicist history of Buddhism. Its where all the Pure Land stories are derived from and its said to be around 2400 years old and where the canon of the Sukhāvatī originated from, which nichiren buddhist worship. Remember that Sensei wears nichiren buddhist clothing.

I'm basically just be here to say goodbye for good as the guy who has been called Buddhanon. You guys already seem to have picked up from where I left off based on the good old imgur dump. Well, its a fairly easy read, even for non Buddhists. However it may come off as very dry so don't read through it in one sitting and I do recommend in making some notes so you can make more sense of it.

The anime is beautiful and the colors really add to the series. It's a faithful adaption so you don't really have to worry about missing anything important. If you really don't want to double up, you could start the manga where the anime leaves off, which is around chapter 32 or 33 iirc.

The anime is what got me head over heels for the series in its entirety. The colors, voices, and the soundtrack are all amazing and should be witnessed by as many people as possible. And like said, its a faithful adaptation and you can pick the manga up at chapter 32 where the anime leaves off. The anime is probably the most beautiful piece of animation I've ever witnessed, and yes I did watch violet evergarden. It's CG done right--so well in fact that it was used for a reference point for Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse, which was also visually stunning. I could go on a longer rant about why you should watch the anime, but aside from the experience, you'll also get to consume the chapters faster.

Tl;dr anime is beautiful and faithful to the original. Pick up where it left off with chp 32 afterward

Am I the only one that can't keep track of who is who because of the lack of colors? Phos, Bortz, Shinsa, etc are obviously easy to distinguish but I cannot remember the background gems for the life of me.

Probably not, but that's not necessarily a bad thing since most of the minor gems don't make huge contributions to the plot. There's a reason all of those colored pages exist with the full active cast on them.

I feel so fucking validated that Bortz and Shinsha are slowly becoming major villains of the earth gems. These gems were never likable and it was always apparent that they would never be able, much less willing, to redeem themselves. They have always been narrow-minded.

If there is a timeskip I wouldn't expect it to be a long one like when Phos lost her head, just enough to maybe see a change in the moon gems whilst also keeping the possibility of the moon Admirabillis being alive. If it's more than a few years or so then the moon Admirabillis are probably dead due to a lack of empathy on the moon gems part towards them, since they would have surely found out about the gemdust being in them by then.

I also think there will be a timeskip but not a long one (5-10 years maybe). Variegatus is supposed to visit the land soon after all.

They were kind of dorky since the beginning, but I'm not sure you were supposed to get this impression. Bortz is a shit tier gem but his antics were tied to the context of him just wanting to be more efficient: his redemption arc is basically spoonfed to you by Dia. Shinsha is an emo fucker but didn't really do anything wrong or irredeemable in the earlier parts of the story, he just sat in the stupid cave. If you're under the impression that there was any villainy to their character then you're really horrible at reading into things.

Rereading the earlier chapters, I noticed there were many scenes like pic related in which Phos' eye that is later pearled is shown to be white already, as though signifying that Phos was having a moment of wisdom, but only through symbolism that would make sense 20+ chapters later when he gets his pearl eye.
Others must have noticed this too, has anyone found a grander pattern than just 'Ichikawa's uncomfortable meticulousness runs deeper than expected'?

The thing with one eye being shown lighter than the other is only thing that shows up so often, there are some other moments like pic related. The eye thing also contrasts with Ghost, whose left eye is darker, which might explain why it shows up so much.
