Ive read EL but have heard nothing but awful things about the anime but that was years ago, is it worth a go?

Elfen Lied actually got my attention and kept me invested till the end, for that alone it gets a 7/10 which is better than 90% of the other shit I've seen

I like SEED regardless of it being crap, but without TM Revolution my enjoyment of the show wouldn't have been anywhere near the same.

I thought Xam'd was fun, if kind of average. I sure wouldn't call it bad. The opening is bomb though.

Both of it's OPs are great.
And for the record Xam'd has it's good qualities, great designs, consistently beautiful animation, it's just that the story goes in the opposite direction of what most people would find entertaining. I would say "it's no Eureka 7" but Eureka 7 kinda did that too, it just managed to make that fun and have its own high points where Xam'd doesn't.

Maybe consider giving it a watch eventually.

It wasn't totally shit. It was just lazy. It had some things going for it, but it was definitely inferior to season 1.
