Not every wish fulfillment fantasy is going to be continuously happy.
The world has gone to shit and the only one that can fix it is the MC because he is the best because he played so many video games and all girls love him.
It is a different type of fantasy to modern isekai but is still a fantasy none the less.
It appeals to those that feel they are wasting their life doing nothing important and want to matter be someone that matters.

To be fair, the guy's life was already wish fulfillment even before the isekai, with the super rich girl appearing out of nowhere wanting to marry you and stuff.
His life before the isekai was objectively better. That's why he wanted to go back.

It is wish fulfillment because it is about a regular high school guy, just like the intended audience, being transported from his regular daily life in our world to a new one were all of the sudden becoming super important and saving the world.
Since it is also a good story it isn't constantly jerking him off about how great he is and allows him to face adversity but it is still wish fulfillment.

He isn't super important. He's a "literally who" for 90% of the time.

He is super important since it is only thanks to him that they can save the world from the alien invaders.

At no point in Unlimited is Takeru important. Even in Alternative he is far less important than, say, Kouzuki, Yuuhi, and the 00 Unit.
