I unironically like lots of modern Berserk, not just the GA/LC/Conviction stuff. But this is still tiresome shit at this point, I think because the context has shifted and now I feel like this may well be the final chapter we get this year (maybe another in the Fall). It's a lot easier to be sanguine about more paced out and detailed per-chapter developments when it's monthly or even bimonthly, and anyone who has been around for a while knows that it'll read quite differently in volume form (and you can always just wait 6-12 months and read the volume all at once). You can still kind of keep track of what's happening without review all the time.

But when it's 6-8 months PER CHAPTER I want different pacing. At this point I just want the Guts/Casca reunion/confrontation that has building and we've been following FOR LITERALLY TWENTY TWO FUCKING YEARS to get closure. Preferably before Miura dies. No you shitter, people aren't just doing it "to fit in" standards have simply changed.

Basically, think of it like if a long running series is suddenly announced as cancelled, but author gets an entire volume or two to wrap the whole thing up. Hell, even a few chapters. They have to rush it, they have to throw away lots of very cool interesting story threads they meant to explore. But it's still possible to give a bit of a clean wrapup to the main core. Fans understand that sometimes shit happens, a cut from above cannot be helped and a rapid end can't be expected to have the same impact, but it's better then nothing. Well at his present rate, we are literally looking at a few more volumes before Miura himself is "cancelled".

There some faint signs of the releases picking up. In a recent interview to some french magazine Miura said it is 75% done. Which means ~119 chapters to go. If we somehow go back to 10 releases a year (unlikely), we have 12 years to go. If we go by the current release speed of ~ 5 chapters/year we will be here another 24 years.

This genuinely looks pretty mediocre. Proportions off, lack of detail in Griffith's eye. It used to be we could say "yeah it takes forever but the detail is incredible."

I honestly think Miura is really getting tired and burned out completely. He should just officially put Berserk on hiatus, for like 2 years, and go live as a hermit or something. Travel the world, get new ideas, try different completely different art styles painting scenery or something. Try to get the juices flowing again, then return and see if he can't get things back on a normal schedule (or at least just resign himself to wrapping it up in another year or two). At the rate we're going that'd still be faster progress then him just developing a block about the whole thing.

Because Miura is probably building something that'll tie up to the reunion, if Miura kept writing the reunion and then switched to the griffith buildup everyone would bitch like always.

You're still missing the point. Everyone KNOWS the pace is way too fucking slow, that's not a surprise at all at this point anymore and people have been complaining about it the entire time. It was also clear as day that this chapter was going to be a Griffith chapter, so the issue is that these memelords are pretending to be shocked and angry that what everyone with a brain KNEW would happen happened. It's just being overly dramatic over something everyone knew was coming, because they want the experience of raging at Miura.

The slow release schedule is a problem and no one is denying that. It's just not something to do the same tired old "rage"-posting every single fucking time a chapter drops.

I think the ending of this chapter, especially with how dialogue heavy it is, is a good point to switch focus again.

I empathize with seeing bitching of the sort in this thread about regular series just because anons got spoiled by scanlators catching up on volumes at a time, complaining about "slow pacing" when it reads perfectly in volume form and is just right on details. But now I think, consciously or not, more and more long time fans are switching to a "series cancelled mindset" where we just want to see the most critical core bits done, hell even just the Casca journey and then Guts swearing some appropriate oath in reaction and walking into the twilight.
