Punpun

This is the smile of a man about to get fucked

I never bothered to read Punpun because my 13 year old ex was obsessed with it to the point where it got on my nerves but now I'm glad that I did. Not Asano's greatest work, though.

I'm fapping to Girl by the Shore as we speak.

Given the source material, this seems disturbingly appropriate actually.

maybe that user is a little girl?

I want to pet little punpun.

Good, I didn't want to protect damaged goods anyway.

Tried to read it at 15 and I couldn't get past the second volume because I was a retarded teenager who was only into shonenshit. Picked it up again 6 years later and it's one of my favorite series.

Is Punpun good-looking?
What do you think his real name is?
Does everyone in the manga actually call him punpun, or is his name filtered out to us readers, just like how we see him as a bird?

i read this at the beginning of my latest cycle of depression and i dont know if it made it worse or gave me solace. i commiserated w/ punpun's life a little too close for comfort

Apparently, Yuuichi looked like a younger version of Pegasus minus the fucked up eyes and facial hair, provided he doesn't have it at the moment. (He did when Midori tried to talk to him)
And Punpun, which is probably a filtered name, is supposed to look a lot like Yuuichi.

Same but 16 year old ex and Homestuck.

On topic, Sachi was by far and away best girl. The second-to-last chapter of her finding Punpun at the factory and saying "Gotcha" and taking his hand after he tried to kill himself really hit me hard. I couldn't imagine someone wanting me that much.

The beach chapter was one of my favorites. For the first pages I was like "what kind of filler chapter is this" but I was happy that punpun got back to his normal form. Then, THAT appeared, and all that relief that I got went directly to trash.

Best girl for me, personally.

Punpun is a bundle of joy!

The situation with Punpun's parent hits a bit too close to home for me

This manga seems to be filled with worst-case scenarios for the shitshows that life can throw at you.
Even if your life only has one of these things go wrong, such as rape, emotional blackmail, trauma bonding, abuse, etc, there's a pretty likely bet it'll be covered in this manga. I think that's why its both worth reading and avoiding at the same time. There's no avoiding some relating with at least one or more characters over something negative.

I never actually finished punpun, stopped around the part where he started meeting glasses girl on the regular, but I could definitely see the appeal. Think the problem was I happened across one of these threads and got spoiled on the ending and didn't feel like reading it anymore.

I still enjoy the part after Punpun commits murder where everything comes crashing down, but I like everything that came before better, with Punpun's life slowly but surely spirals downward into madness.
I like how the manga portrays Punpun's parents as good people at core but also really shitty parents and spouses.

Was Harumi best boy?

Thinking about it, I wished the author would have Punpun and Aiko be together, licking each other's wound and just be miserable in general. It would be extra depressing for 2 damaged individuals to cling to each other and live out their tired existence together.

If they just buried Aiko's mom 2 feet deeper they would've been fine. Don't know if they had enough time but they sat out in the middle of the night shortly after though so they probably did. Of course it probably would've still haunted them both so it was inevitable, but it would have prolonged it.

Technically it would have been fine if they just had gone to the police straight away. Punpun acted in self defense, and the fact he didn't go to jail after it was all said in done proved how pointless them running away was.

Do you think Punpun is finally happy at the end? He is surrounded by friends and especially Sachi who cares greatly about him.
Personally, I think he lost himself after that day, and the current Punpun is just an empty shell who's going through the motions.
I read Punpun and Aku no Hana around the same time, and I have the same question for Kasuga. Is he truly happy and fulfilled at the end? Or it's better for him to die together with Nakamura back in their moment of madness?

This is peak punpun and you cannot convince me otherwise

Attached: punpun03.jpg (309x174, 15K)

I'm pretty sure he found the good state to be in.

Attached: Punpun.png (245x253, 11K)

I think this Punpun will be healed by Sachi in time, if he's not already healing. I want to believe in him despite everything.

Asano Inio explicitly stated in an interview it was the worst ending he could give Punpun.

How does self-defense work in Japan though?

I unironically think the short gay manga was better.

I may just have a lousy memory, but I don't recall there ever being an instance of pedophilia in Punpun.

Didn't his uncle's girlfriend rape him when he was pretty young?

By Burger standards maybe.

Didn't he also say he was ok with alternate interpretations though?

OP's image is literally the same damn chapter as that iirc. In fact, that was who he was smiling at.

I couldn't stand Sachi when I read it. She came off as seeming incredibly manipulative and vindictive; she only keeps Punpun around for her own amusement.

Punpun and his uncle's girlfriend though technically it's not pedophilia, but ephebophilia

>A love made just so two can lick each other's wounds
>It's unsightly
How does Asano manage to uncover the deepest parts of my mind so easily?

no he's completely miserable, word of god is that he hates all of what happened and that he basically had no choice and never lived the life he actually wanted

Oh yeah, I had forgotten about that. For some reason or another I thought Punpun was older when that happened, though.

and then she crushes his little child heart into a raisin

pretty sure he's not even in highschool so like 13 or 14

which is a really bad time to get molested

I mean, I would imagine any time is a bad time to get molested.

I can't think of any non-porn comic that shows a boy's visible erection.

Of course it's not a sexy scene exactly

Is it really? Fuck, what does that say about my taste in women?

>punpun wanted to have sex
>he gets sex
>people considers this rape
why?

The worst part to me is that later she gave him a gift, said she and his uncle had made up, then told him "You know what to do, right?". Basically, she was both bribing and threatening him into silence. Imagine if the genders are reversed, we would have a shitstorm.

But you are not Punpun though. He's a shit person so he kinda deserves it.

he wanted love. he never gets love.

Actually, since it is a drama, the reverse would still work.
The difference is how people would react if fempunpun actually spilled the beans anyway.
Also, the fact that his initial gift was... a pair of fucking glasses like his uncle wears.
If his uncle hadn't come back, she was going to turn Punpun into him.
There is also the fucking painful coincidence of Yuichi coming back that same day. Had Midori just kept her cunt dry for a few more hours, everything would have turned out much happier... at least for a bit longer.

Fun fact: Asano Inio married a fellow mangaka last year, and his wife has the same initials as Aiko. Oh, and she also likes to write depressing manga.

>my taste in women?
way to completely miss the point

What would a collab series by these two guys be like?

Is dededededededead or something any good?

How many medicine manga do they actually make?

I just don't get why did they run after punpun acted in self defense, they were both adults and should know the situation

Pun Pun's dick is huge!

They were not exactly mentally balanced people to begin with.

why do they look like monkeys?

It started out really promising, lost steam around chapter 45 or so for me. Still worth a read

Thanks, I'm gonna check that one out

what

Is an anime adaption even possible?

Attached: punpun.jpg (1456x1023, 475K)

I saw in an archived thread that someone had suggested it being live action but Punpun and his family should still be drawn caricatures.

Honestly Punpun getting cucked is the only ending he deserved

I really like dddd but the most recent chapters are pretty dumb.

Guaranteed to be full CG with 2D Punpun & family in this day and age.

dropped it 80 something chapters in, whenever that dumb ugly glasses slut started living with him, can't stand her and the subplot with crazy guy is dumb
overall I say I did not enjoy it and reminded me of /r9k/ fags playing the victim

thanks for being the token retard every thread needs

not an argument

ok retard

Sure user's reply isn't an argument but your post isn't really criticism. It's just "I didn't like it" and projecting about r9k.
So you really are a retard.

>a single page showing punpun has some talent for go
>never brought up again
What did Inio mean by this? How would things have changed had this been pursed?

based retard

I don't like it because it sucks. How's that?

Nice critique, Hemingway. Did your mom write that one up for you?

You want to tell me what's so great about this crappy manga then?

Okay, but for real. People like the manga because it depicts issues like divorce, growing up, etc. in a grounded manner, with a dash of comedy and really nice art. I like it because it reminds me of Catcher in the Rye in a sense. But Gantz is still better

glossing over the "13 year old ex",
>Not Asano's greatest work, though.
I'm curious, what do you think it's his best work then?

I THINK OYASUMI BITCHBITCH FUCKING SUCKS
