I love the fact that at the start of the story he didn't even know what he wanted or seemed to care about other people (beyond his family and Reigen), but through the course of the story he learns so much about himself, what he wants and cares about, including his relationships with others and himself.

Same here. A good show should break out with cliches by doing something new and fresh. A really good show creates new tropes from scratch that others will try to follow. Just pointing out cliches and laughing at them while offering nothing in return is a lazy attemept to stand out without effort.
Mob doesn't fall into this category though from what I've heard, so I'm planning to give it a try in the near future.

Hm...Mob sometimes has a kind of humor which you could relate to OPM (because it's the same writer), but it feels like it's less present. It's a more serious and compact story than OPM I would say. It's another kind of coming of age story and trying to show the importance of human relationships.

I adore OPM to death and I think in terms of writing and enjoyment MP100 is ONE's best work, so hopefully you will. The anime adaptation is one of the best produced in years and the manga has a lot of great heart to it.

Maybe the reason I'm starting to dislike Saitama a bit is that he's reminding me too much of my personal bad traits/issues. I'd much rather watch someone like Mob overcome his obstacles, discover his passions, cultivate relationships with the people around him, bounce back from his set backs, and become a better person.

I have a lot of faith in ONE as a writer that he'll give Saitama a more uplifting ending to his arc. I just think it's really admirable to see how good ONE is at portraying so many different things, like the themes of MP100. The genuine rut Saitama finds himself in is portrayed really damn accurately, it's good to see this sort of representation in a more mainstream series.

I'd recommend reading the webcomic first then reading the manga so you can appreciate the webcomic and also appreciate the additions made in the manga. The manga is genuinely spectacular at some points, the fight with Elder Centipede having some absolutely god-tier art all the way through it.

I'd say the only the last half of the Tournament arc feels that way. Since all the chapters have been released, it's less of drag to read through it. As that user said, some of the extensions to the manga are good.

As someone who felt a little bit iffy about the additions made to the story at the time, I can say with reading it back now with all the chapters released that the introduction to the MA HQ raid flows a lot better than in the webcomic.

I feel in the minority here since I only caught up a few days ago but seeing Murata flex his art skills never gets old to me, the fight between Phoenix Man and Child Emperor was absolutely gorgeous and so was Garou vs Orochi.
We're so fucking close to the finale of the MA arc, even reading that fight in the webcomic gave me pure chills, I can't imagine how it's going to look when Murata gets his hands on it.

The series was more of a sleeper hit to me than anything, I really enjoyed season 1 but only after seeing season 2 did I realize that this is probably going to be fondly remembered as an all-time classic. God fucking damn from the start of season 2 I knew it was going to be special after I bawled my eyes out at the end of the first episode. It's still really damn good to see the series only got better from that point on, I just hope we actually do get a proper last season to give the series the send-off it deserves.

Because the entire concept of the show is watching Mob, who got traumatized as a child and surpressed his emotions, grow and open up emotionally. It's a story about healing. Rather than using his character growth as a tool to progress the story, the story is woven around his growth as a character. That's why the last arc is so great. We see Mob overcome his biggest hurdle, his inability to accept his powers as a natural part of himself, for the first time truly coming to terms with who he is. Him finding friends and improving himself feels natural due to that.
Say what you want about ONE's art, but a lot of the more famous Mangaka could learn a thing or two from him about how to write compelling and relatable characters.

I really want to have that. I hope they finally realized they need to release good merch
