That's a tough question because anime I actually really like ain't that obscure, but more obscure anime I've seen I don't exactly like either. The most obscure anime I've seen is The Adventures of Scamper the Penguin which is a collaboration between Toei and soviets and it's a surprisingly kickass adventure OVA series about penguins who try to escape abduction by poachers.
But my favorite one that I think is kind of obscure is definitely Hinamatsuri. Memory of it is probably still fresh, but I don't remember that many threads about it when it was airing and really only few remember it at this point.

Contrast in taste is a blessed thing.

I just like cyberpunk as a genre but there are certain things in GitS:SAC that really stand out to me like the evolution of the tachikoma's AI, the political drama, how accurate a near-future world it creates and it helps having a nice budget to look pretty.

TTGL I suppose you could say is completely different but I like the theme, the art style is beautiful, the out of this world characters and story. I like over the top shit like this, Gunbuster, Diebuster etc.

It's a really good show. Especially considering how they balance camaraderie/comedy with tragedy for both sides, I found it very easy to get in to

I actually thought it wasn't obscure enough and wanted to name a different OVA about a space delivery girl but I forgot that OVA's name.

I hated the aesthetic at first, thought it was going to be shoujoushit.
