The advantage that Diavolo has is that he would see the time stop and be able to injure him or run out of DIO's range, but I don't see how he would manage to get a kill.

King Crimson can change Diavolo's fate with its time skip. But nobody else's. When he erased the time when he got hit by the bullets they essentially phased through him. But if he erased the time where Risotto got hit by the bullets the result of him being hit and killed by the bullets would remain. Diavolo is outside of fate during the time he skips.

There is no alternate reality. When Diavolo uses Epitaph, what happens in the next 10 or so seconds is set in stone. No matter what happens or what actions anyone takes, the prediction is never wrong. But, when Diavolo activates his ability, he and only he can change what happens. Let's say that Diavolo sees me run around the corner and shoot him in the head through Epitaph. Right before I round the corner, he activated King Crimson, then dives out of the line of fire. Since I'm not Diavolo, I will still shoot the same spot, even though Diavolo isn't there, because I am bound to the fate that Epitaph predicted. However, the boss is free to move around during the 10 seconds. And then, of course, I lose my memory of those 10 seconds.

Also as seen with the elevator, Diavolo can also skip time without escaping consequences, which means he could skip himself getting Trish and get away with that, because he wasn't harmed in this process and it's only good consequences for him

This, let's say you are pointing a revolver at Diavolo and you're planning on shooting all six bullets at him in exactly 3 seconds, he uses epitaph so he knows what you will do and starts erasing time, after three seconds you'll be frozen shooting all your bullets while he moves freely and after 10 seconds (or less) of time erasure the effect will end and you won't remember anything that happened during that time period, 3 seconds after he finished erasing time you'll try to shoot since you don't have memories of doing so previously, but to your surprise, you already shot all your bullets during the time you were under King Crimson's effect. He pretty much has the ability of escaping fate while everyone else is doomed to live it. He may also be able to turn half-ethereal during time skip as why he can enter the elevator to take Trish and avoid bullets.
