Why don't they make cyberbunk and delinquent shows anymore?
Why don't they make cyberbunk and delinquent shows anymore?
They'll return and save anime!
Because there's not enough talent in the industry to get cyberpunk shows animated
They don't make as much money as isekai
There's been a notable shift in mainstream entertaiment where protagonists now are more often obedient workers in hierarchical organisations instead of edgy outlaws and misfits.
Turns out trends change over time, wow, what a shock.
Period dramas tend to be made as live action rather than anime.
Because it is no longer the 1990s.
Turns out that they are both products of their time and aged like milk
Why do all female delinquent shows turn into deredere gap moe instead of allowing them to remain sexually aggressive predators?
Why would you make cyperbunk or delinquent shows when you can churn out low effort idol/gacha/lnshit and reap bigger rewards? There is no market for it
We live cyberpunk, the cyberpunk genre was put in the ground by Neal Stephenson with Snow Crash and Diamond Age, and the banchou is dead. Delinquents now are just low level Yaks or Japanese wiggers.
Although there's been a boom of sexy Gals and Yankii girls.
Governments want obedience.
Cyberpunk died out because we arrived at the 21st and the technological advancement wasn't as impressive as predicted and a quite a lot of things that were supposed to be impressive became just mundane every day commodities, and many the core themes and pretictions of the genre became real in much lamer ways than predicted, like how instead of how government and megacorps spying you through advanced cybernetic implants and sending killer robots to suppress dissent we have just google keeping track of what buttplug size you prefer and selling the information to advertisers.
Delinquent shows died out because the whole thing revolves around a group of subcultures from the 70s and 80s that were already on their way out when the genre was at the peak of its popularity, it would be like asking why they don't make movies about Disco
Because they have to make that turn in order to avoid content that can't be aired on TV. Basically the same reason why self-insert harem protags have to be herbivore betas, because the alternative can't be put in the mass market domain.
They are boring op
Armitage sucked
Psycho Pass S3 coming soon.
This, I wanted to say the same, in the 80's the Yakuza was far stronger than now, enormous gangs of biker, the bosozoku crossed the streets of big cities at night, also the delinquent genre worked because of the loyality and camaraderie of those groups between their members, the honor codes and so on now japanese criminals are just common delinquents. Plus with things like the NSA scandal cyberpunk just hits to close home.
Most cyberpunk anime are complete garbage and you literally can't deny this without ignoring every shitty snoozefest like Beatless or Ergo Proxy
Most series about delinquents nowadats are either 2srs seinen that would never sell as anime or comedy series with exaggerated banchou characters
What is kill la kill?
A battle mahou-shoujo
>why isn't this 80's trend a thing anymore
A darker and edgier stealth remake of Project A-Ko
>Ryuko is a sukeban
>Sanagayama is a gang leader with a bunch of goons
>Satsuki is a sukeban. The flashbacks show her with long skirt too, drawing similarities to the ones from the 70s and 80s. The flashback show the 4 devas in gang formation
>The ED is a nod to the sukeban deka live action works.
> Heavy cyberpunk notes
>the whole school conquering tour was pretty much 100% cyberpunk
>The nudist beach outfits and the nudist beach versions of the 4 devas suits
>glasses' suit
>Ryuko's motercycle
There's heavy gang/delinquint and cyberpunk influences in this show.
>entertaiment where protagonists now are more often obedient workers in hierarchical organisations
Who dream about this life? Anime should be about dreams and hopes not a real life.
>media is designed for the consumers healthy enjoyment
>media is not optimized to appeal to those who will pay the most for various forms of merch
>media is not designed to condition the viewer to consume and obey
welcome to 2019, enjoy you shows about office workers being spirited away to fantasy worlds where they risk their lives and endure hardships because a mysterious authority tells them to. don't forget to by a funco pop figurine!
it's a meme
