Retards always call KyoAni anything a flop, then they kick and scream when there's yet another sequel

Those /u/ redditors always telling half truths
73 screens isn't very much, this is gonna do around the same as all their other movie adaptations from series like Chuu2 and KnK

Yeah, it would probably pass Liz's box office record.

>higher than another flop
masterful

Do people really convince themselves that KyoAni is in financial trouble? They've been doing this shit for a long time, they know what they're doing. Especially with Hibike where they bought the full animation rights and get to keep almost all the money.
Looking forward to the buchou Kumiko movie two years from now.

They haven't released any financial report since 2016. I haven't seen any new one

Het flop > /u/ flop

Every time somebody wishes Kyoani would fail, another studio ends up dying instead. Shaft is in the process of falling apart as we speak

Right when a new Madoka is coming?

I'd rather see a S3. I can't really imagine one movie doing two novels justice.

/u/cucks BTFO and I don't even like kyoani

What do the columns in this chart mean? And out of interest, how many screens did Liz have?

>> /u/ called it a flop
user it's time to wake up, there's no Hibike thread on /u/ since that one user who spammed with it moved on and become Grindman Akane x Rikka idiot fag.

Liz also had 70ish screens as well, but it made 45 million yen in its first week and did not make to the top 10 in the first week (was no.11).

>lower than Shazam, a flop movie other than US

A flop for sure.

Congrats on winning the special olympics, i guess.

That's kind of surprising. I would have expected Liz to have crossover appeal because it also worked as a standalone story.

Are these rankings based on revenue? That would be pretty impressive compared to all those competitors with 300+ screens.

Yep is based on revenue (90 million yen in its first week).

You guys do realize that 90m yen is just $900k, right?
That's the same money as a 9k BD anime but on a muuuuuuch higher budget

Profit wise, it's probably same profit as 5k BD. Just a guess

Just checked
*$800k now. Or 8k BD anime

90m is week one, you'll have to wait and see what type of legs this film will have. Although if Liz made 300m+ on a 45m opening this one shouldn't be too bad. Then factor in actual BD sales.

Anyway this is the type of movie that Kyoani has been making for half a decade now. Opens in under 100 screens and makes 200m-300m each. Must be a decent profit if they keep going back to the well

Apparently this hibike movie did not have movie budget because Violet's ridiculous movie design became a black hole that is enslaving the entire studio.

2 hour movie budget is usually the same as 6 hour anime.
Real expense come from advertisements, promotions, and renting teathers. Sooooo muuuuch higher than just buying a TV time slot

You don't get it, I'm saying it apparently looks like a regular TV episode stretched to a movie duration and that people are blaming Violet for it.

Right
user that’s first week for any decent selling seasonal trash too, they also go on to sell in the coming weeks and months. Ditf went on to do 40k if I remember and that’s just completely average.

That being said Liz was a flop in its own right, and although this did better it’s still not great, it’s just not a flop worth meaning about especially since it out did that yuritrash.

This cripple asshole is stealing Kumiko's budget.
