Why is bread and all that forms of bread abominations they have over there so present over anime/manga?
Isn't japan a rice nation?
Why is bread and all that forms of bread abominations they have over there so present over anime/manga?
shes taking the BBC Big Bread Cock
Bread is easier to animate
Because rice sucks and bread is cool.
Do they even have bread in Japan? I thought they only ate fish and rice
Bread is cuter than rice.
Best bread show
>eating raw bread instead of frying it
wtf?
scotland please go, leave the loli alone.
There has never been a single loaf of bread in the entire country of Japan
>baked in an oven
>raw
You've almost got it figured out already. Japan absolutely uses rice for their staple starch, so eating quality bread is kind of a big deal. Thus, important enough for someone to animate in a show as part of a special meal or a social event.
Nothing at all to do with potential phallic imagery. Honest.
The US pushed heavily post WW2 for Japan to switch to bread. It didn't technically work but it still left a huge impact and so bread is easy and common to find there now
Gotta get those carbs somehow.
>he US pushed heavily post WW2 for Japan to switch to bread. It didn't technically work
Gotta play the long game

because nips deep down know their cuisine is shit and want to adopt western culinary traditions.
Not real bread, only wheat abominations. Cocaine is cheaper and vastly more abundant than rye bread.
Forget going to a bakery or café, they don't know what puff pastry is.
Learn some history retard. Bread was a staple of every meal until the 20th century. Its relatable and has some truth behind people eating it.
Bread has been gradually becoming more popular through the years in Japan. Big part of the older generation prefers other stuff like natto, rice, etc. The now adults and the younger generation prefers how practical bread is.
I met a Japanese cook who was returning to Japan after spending some time in France to learn more bread techniques. He was telling me how bread in some of the big cities like Kyoto and other ones has become part of the local culture.
The running with bread in your mouth meme really hammers this home. I prefer eating rice too but you really need time and place for it.
It's not practical to eat rice meals on the go. Yet.
This image makes me laugh every time I see it
No matter what it always cracks me up
>try melon pan
>its actually shit and does not taste like melon at all
Why would anime lie to me
Why would it taste like melon?
It's pastry and ice cream
YOU need to watch Yakitate!! Japan.
Also bread is pretty much a staple lunch in japan for poorfag school kids. Lots of different types of bread lunch over there. It's cheap and fills you up for those who don't have time to make their own lunches.
Yes, user, it's always funny seeing cute lolis inserting huge phallic objects into their mouths while their friends watch astonished.
Why you gotta lewd bread loli user?
Portugal
This gentleman here might have a point.
Bread is baked in an oven.
Traditional Japanese cuisine is ...not. Ovens are kinda rare, only present in larger, industrical-setting kitchens. And most of the cooking was historically done on bed of coals or fireplace.
Even today smaller apartments come with gas/electric cooking plates, but NO OVEN.
This, combined with the fact that the staple food was boiled rice has created a sort of cultural norm that "rice is what you eat". Even their word for "Food" (gohan) literally means "rice".
When the Europeans crashed on Japanese shores during Sengoku jidai, they kinda re-introduced the bread into Japanese cuisine as it had sort of disappeared in the past millenia.
And even then it was seen as a sort of strange and exotic food, and they had difficulties understanding that this bread WAS the western "staple" and this was the thing that westerners ate during their meals, instead of rice. This was all new and exciting for the japanese.
But the old "Rice = food" is still strong in the japanese culture, and bread (aside from simple toasts and subways) has not really hit through the japanese mentality.
There have been several attempts lately to re-introduce western bread-culture into japanese main-stream. One of them has been anime "Yakitate Japan". It actually does a fairly good job teaching about European bread-culture while being tongue-in-cheek crazy-comedy. It's full of Japanese word-puns and as such is a good way to learn japanese from anime.
>the US pushed heavily
You retarded user? Wheat was all the US had. We sent Japan wheat so they wouldn't starve while recovering because we didn't have rice in the kind of quantity they would need. Japan turned the wheat into flour. Japan made the dough. Japan baked the dough into bread. It was all they had at the time and they made it their own. Some of it stuck. I think we can toss this one out of the tinfoil hat conspiracies folder.
do american really do this
Yakitake Japan is great
youtube.com
Yakitate Japan is fucking AWESOME!
...
It's also by the colors and bocchi's mangaka which makes it even more cuter and funnier
I thought that girl looked like Kako
That explains it
Bread is good. Just because your staple is rice doesn’t mean you won’t like bread.
It's pretty good if you actually brought a fresh baked version of them through. The taste between the freshed and factory packaged one is different like day and night.
the virgin rice vs the CHAD BREAD
Yes, I googled that and found out that it was Yaoi.
my grandma made fried bread once, it's not bad, but it's so oily I got the shittys minutes after eating
this is true.
But, what you are accustomed to WILL affect how you will treat other things that are supposed to "do the same thing".
A lot of old folk find it difficult to get into new diets, if they have eaten certain kinds of foods their entire lives. A Sicilian woman who has eaten Mediterranian cuisine with plenty of pasta, olive oil, basil and garlic WILL have hard time to get used to less savoury food that is served at a hospital or equivalent.
In the same way, if you have grown accustomed to eating rice on pretty much every meal, you might have difficulties adjusting to cuisine that has no rice but bread on every meal.
Humans are weird like that.
Wow this is a cute and funny image OP.
Can bread be made from rice?
>cute and funny
It's a shame we don't have a less clumsy way of saying this. There needs to be some kind of shorthand for "cute and funny."
How about "fute"?
You may have not heard, but the Union won the war and no one seriously eats hardtack anymore, now go back in your grave gramps.
"What is crisp bread?"
Lot's of militaries use it even today. Scandinavians.
It's dry, lightweigh, high in caloric content, protein and fiber, and tastes about as good as the box it comes in. But when did military care about taste?
HOLY HECKING CHRIST ON A STICK LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THAT BEAUTIFUL BUTTERED BAKED BREAD BOUGHT FROM THE BAKERY
>tastes about as good as the box it comes in
The pricey ones are pretty good.
aren't you supposed to put something inside that
>Why is bread and all that forms of bread abominations they have over there so present over anime/manga?
No joke, what the goblinfuck did OP mean by this?
WHY IS THE BREAD BIGGER THAN HER ARMS?!
SHE'S CROSSING OVER TO THE REALM OF GODS, SHE'S BECOMING A LEGEND.
A WEAKER GIRL WOULD ASK FOR THE BREAD TO BE SMALLER. BUT SHE ONLY ASKS FOR THE STRENGTH TO OVERCOME SUCH A TASK
YOU'RE NOT SPEAKING LOUD ENOUGH user!
There's no way she can finish that in one sitting.
big bread power
>frying bread in olive oil and butter
dont underestimate the swallowing power of a loli
Favorite ship in the manga.
>after spending some time in France to learn more bread techniques
flour is not good for human consumption. Or diet must be about veggies and meat.
I want to try hardtack just to experience it.
>that bread
just imagine the size of her shits
>It's not practical to eat rice meals on the go. Yet.
What is onigiri?
it's only funny on the first time because it showed genuine retardation. Ironic retard is just not funny
That's a big loaf.
Go on..
No one outside of France and a few towns that border it knows what the fuck puff pastry is so that's not a qualifier.
its not really a boy is it? I mean why would you draw those subtle hints of boobs in every frame if its a boy?
I am sad to say yes, it is a boy.
bump
Have any of you guys seen jap sliced bread? It's the equivalent of 3 slices thick. They slice one industrial white loaf only 6 times and sell it like that.
Truly a nation of barbarians.
I'm thinkimg it's something like a super dense/hard cracker.
Imagine a fruit roll up that’s been pressed together as hard as possible and then left to dry; there’s a very stiff, leathery toughness with a noticeable give when you bite all the way through.
Same, it's cute. I like seeing lolis do cute retarded shit.
Who else wants to choke a loli with a loaf of bread like that? Cram it down her throat till she dies.
> Raw bread
You can choose from many options. They cut the same size into 5x, 6x, or more slices.
I like this pan
>American cuisine.
The taste is fine. The problem is that mainland europeans need to drown literally all their food in spices before they eat. And thus shun the simplest items.
the fuck is this
>bread and noodles
Some kind of sausage bread/autistic hotdog.
>empty carbs
it's easy to make and is pretty much the simplest form of bread
Man, that'd be the cutest tomboy.
BROT? HAT DA JEMAND BROT GESAGT?!?!
