Part 4 is an unfocused mess. We don't get an actual main protagonist, as Araki struggles to decide which of the Duwang Gang he likes the best. He eventually decides it's Rohan, but by that point the story is beyond salvation. The worst thing about DiU is the fact that it's nearly good. The pieces are there. Josuke could have been great if given more arcs to work with. Kira could have been the best villain in Jojo if Araki had decided on him from the beginning. Okuyasu and Rohan are fantastic and Part 4 even breathes life into the worst Jojo, Jotaro. But the story is so disjointed, the plot so very aimless that none of the cool parts mesh and they all go to waste.

I want to enjoy part 5, I really do, but there are just so many little things about it that irritate me to no end. Like how we're supposed to pretend that Giorno is still the protagonist, because he's allowed to make whatever ridiculous logical leaps are necessary to progress the plot, even if he hardly ever contributes past that. Not to mention that Araki has been getting a bit too experimental with the applications of stand powers, so we get stands with either too many powers, or stands with abilities that just don't make sense in the first place.

Maybe it's just me getting jaded. I've been finding myself becoming progressively more critical of Araki's writing as part 8 continues, maybe I'm just starting to apply that's retroactively.

No WAY man. The fights of Part 5 always have tons of parts where a character should have died to the point to where it doesn't feel impactful when they actually do die. There's only so many times you can see a character get shot in the head and live without it getting annoying. The fights of 7 don't have much blow trading, it's usually one or two hits and than it's done.

Part 1 is the single most underrated Jojo part and it's unironically the best. It's undoubtedly the most memorable and has the strongest cast of characters. Almost every scene of part 1 is famous among Jojo fans. It oozes style with every panel. Later parts may be more "complicated" but they're really just convoluted. None of them match up to the circumstances and pure intensity of Jonathan and Dio's rivalry, the sheer imagination of the 19th century English setting mixed with occult Stone Masked Vampires and supernatural kung-fu champions or the heart gripping moments such as Erina's stolen kiss, Danny's murder, the botched arrest of Dio, Zepelli's death or Jonathan's tragic end. Part 1: Phantom Blood is simply the very best Jojo's Bizarre Adventure has to offer.

It's because the arc it's in gets dragged out a lot and the fight happens immediately after another long battle, so people generally get there already fatigued. The fight itself is pretty neat and the Stand has an ability way too good for a minor villain of the week.

It's difficult to read through, the narrative is sloppy, the pacing is all over the place, the minor antagonists are lackluster, all of the stands are terrible and it has the weakest cast by a long shot. Jolyne is a pathetic MC who is just an edgy whiny bitch with daddy issues. Her poor actions are blamed on Jotaro and she doesn't have a moment of self-reflection to become a more mature person. Compared to DiU and VA, the story felt rather weak for the most part. The fights were a step up from DiU, but completely inferior to VA's. The setting was likely the least interesting out of any part. In addition, the story does not seem as original as the parts before, and seems to be a rehash of SDC's main plot line. However, after they leave the prison, the story gets amazing, but it's far too late to push it above DiU and VA, which were much more consistently good.

Jolyne was a pretty good character, but definitely in the lower half of my favorite JoJos. She isn't as complex as Johnny or Gappy, isn't as developed as Jotaro and Joseph and Giorno is way more thematically brilliant and poignant as a character. The side characters were hit or miss. Weather Report was amazing. Anasui was great. FF was alright. Ermes was mediocre and a bad JoBro. One big plus is Jotaro and Dio’s development, though. Their character arcs are completed in Part 6.

My biggest complaint. DiU had individuals attempting to live their lives, with their own distinct personalities and ambitions. VA humanized brutal murderers with tragic pasts, proving they were victims of fate. Unfortunately, Araki reverted back to the mindless antagonists of SDC. (Note: this does not apply to Dio's sons)

You might think such because of Part 6. Part 6 is Jojo at its absolute dumbest. The very apex of its indulgence. It’s got the stupidest clothes, the oddest characters, the wackiest powers, the zaniest schemes, and the flimsiest “scientific” justifications for how certain events occur. It’s a wall of sound in manga form that ultimately creates a subpar song.

In turn, you appreciate the supposed restraint of Part 5 and Part 7. Even though the former was just a succession of visceral fights with barely any breathing room and the latter was an admittedly excellent reboot albeit with about as many strengths and weaknesses as any other Jojo part

At least there was a time when people saw the truth, except for how everyone hates on SO because they hate that Araki literally deleted the universe. People are just mad that it didn't have some glamorous ending that helps them sleep at night. DIU has an incredible cast of supporting characters. Josuke portrays a childish yet admirable spirit that everyone wishes they carried inside of them. To watch him grow from a rash boy acting on anger and emotion to a protective and vengeful leader sworn to stand in front of anyone that may hurt his friends and family is incredible. There's a reason he's Araki's favorite. To top it off Kira may not be a big deal in the big picture but I would hate to only like things because of their "power level." Kira is great because of how unsettling he is, how menacing he is, the juxtaposition of trying to live a quiet life in a small town while literally carrying around severed hands for pleasure. It's how colorful and unique he is as a villain while wanting to be as uninteresting and unnoticeable as he can. People only dislike it because it reads more as a slice of life than a Naruto-esque adventure.

Everyone still loves SBR, we'll see what happens in twenty years when its adaptation is complete.

I enjoyed DiU overall and fell in love with the cast but I was disappointed in Kira as the main villain. I've heard all about was how great Kira was as a villain, so I was intrigued about a serial killer stand user. Killer Queen is one of my favorite stands but it felt underutilized. Kira was introduced in episode 17 but didn't truly become important until episode 21. This left 18 episodes for him to be built up. It's not impossible to build up a villain in 18 episodes but considering it was past the halfway point I knew he would not be fully fleshed out.

I felt Kira should have had a bigger focus by showing more of his backstory or just having more screen time before being exposed by Shigechi. I would have loved to see what drove him to start murdering for his fetish or things relating to his past. Considering how his father acts it seems as though something leads to him being compliant in his son's murders. I enjoyed Kira, but I felt there was not that much of a focus on him as there should have been.

As in, the person doesn't even need to look into Kira and get caught off guard by Hayato's implanted KQ, they will explode regardless even if Hayato doesn't go there.

4, 5, and 6 don't end in asspulls. You just don't know what that term means. I'd say 2 doesn't either. All of them have something established earlier that is brought back into the story to finish the part out. We know that Kira's a psychopath that at the end is confident in his invincibility and already let his name slip to Hayato. KC being invincible was established several times since it was introduced and the arrow being the way to beat it was also established earlier. Emporio having WP's disc was established earlier too. None of these are established extremely early or anything but any number of chapters or episodes you pull out of your ass that you need to be before to not be an asspull is arbitrary.

I haven't read part 1 in a while but how many chapters in advance was the Space Ripper Stingy Eyes used since you're so confident that that specific thing isn't an asspull. Dio's severed head isn't established any earlier than anything else I mentioned above.

Dio probably exists in the Ireneverse. There's nothing pointing to him not. Pucci seemingly doesn't though as Weather isn't in prison. And Emporio specifically says that Pucci being outside of fate is why he could push the disc into Emporio's head.

We only see one Joestar and her name is completely different. We know nothing about any of the other parts. The more likely scenario is that everything up to part 6 happened more or less the same.

The evidence is the ending. Everyone who was fated to meet Pucci now has a different life. Different names and a different past. So Dio (who also met Pucci) should have also changed. Maybe he never became a vampire in the first place, because he isn't fated to meet Pucci anymore, and lives a normal human lifespan.
