Fairy Tail was notorious for being shitty and carried by the fanservice for the second half of its series. To start every character had substance to their character. Natsu's searches for the one who raised him, Lucy gains a new family because her father is unloving, Gray deals with the aftermath of his mentor's self sacrifice and the other people involved in her life, Erza deals with the mindrape tower childhood and having to abandon her friends. Elfman and Mirajane are scarred by Lisanna's death, and it also weighs on Natsu's mind. The guild master has to deal with the fact that his son is evil and his grandson is going down the wrong path.

But you know what? None of that matters. The girls were hot and the fights were passable, so having plot reasons to fight were abandoned. Lisanna's not dead, no worries. Let's jump forward 7 years to the future so that Fairy Tale stops being seen as a top guild so they can be underdogs for one arc before they are back on top. It didn't matter, so he stopped putting the effort in.

Why talk about Fairy Tale? Because Eden Zero is just more of the same of blatant not caring. But also because Naruto became that as well. You just needed cool ninja fights and nothing mattered. The big fight of Naruto vs Sasuke took place years ago on top of a statue of Madara Uchiha. Him being a legendary ninja who could slap the Five Kages around was a good payoff for the set up of expectations over the years. But instead of Madara being the final boss, Kaguya is set up mere weeks before his inclusion while Madara is still going around killing people. People loved it! They lap it up like dogs.

And they'll lap this up too. It's not like Boruto looks good. The character's faces look like traces of child porn. I hate you all. Fuck you.
