Is this the worst trope?

I mean most of the team will get at least one major fight for themselves in an arc. Robin hasn't had a real 1v1 since Skypia. She performs decently in team battles, but it would be nice to see her shine and the fact that she got forced into babysitting in Dressarosa is bullshit.

OI! JOSUKE!

Robin's fruit works fine for the most part, it's just she is relatively normal strength wise and anything she sprouts takes damage. She can't do much damage to really strong people and she risks severe injury using her ability. So in the New World her role as a support is more fitting than ever.

You can think of it from the perspective that anyone can get an ability which means it wouldn't be uncommon for abilities to be matched with people who don't make good use of them or simply can't.

One Piece doesn't take itself very serious in this regard often anyways, as you'll see gimmicky characters who have an ability that perfectly embodies them, sometimes played off solely as a gag.

This dude. Basically reality wrapping powers and Oda kept hitting him with nerfs after nerfs. And even then, he should end any fight instantly.
