Character has an OP power but is written out of the story or too stupid to use it properly

>character has an OP power but is written out of the story or too stupid to use it properly
Is this the worst trope?

you act like anyone but luffy, zoro, or sanji do shit to begin with

Someone called?

I mean most of the team will get at least one major fight for themselves in an arc. Robin hasn't had a real 1v1 since Skypia. She performs decently in team battles, but it would be nice to see her shine and the fact that she got forced into babysitting in Dressarosa is bullshit.

OI! JOSUKE!

Robin's fruit works fine for the most part, it's just she is relatively normal strength wise and anything she sprouts takes damage. She can't do much damage to really strong people and she risks severe injury using her ability. So in the New World her role as a support is more fitting than ever.

You can think of it from the perspective that anyone can get an ability which means it wouldn't be uncommon for abilities to be matched with people who don't make good use of them or simply can't.

One Piece doesn't take itself very serious in this regard often anyways, as you'll see gimmicky characters who have an ability that perfectly embodies them, sometimes played off solely as a gag.

She looks disgusting now, I want the cool looking Robin back

This dude. Basically reality wrapping powers and Oda kept hitting him with nerfs after nerfs. And even then, he should end any fight instantly.

Robin's DF isn't a broken as it seems.
First the strenght of her extra limbs are limited by her own physical strenght (she complained about Yama being too heavy during her fight agains him). Then damages inflicted to her extra limbs are inflicted to her real body. Her power is great against mediocre fighters or for surprise attacks, not so much for drawn out 1 vs 1 against fast and strong fighters.

>Josuke is the example here
>Not Okayasu with one of the best stands in the series

Robin fruit is mediocre.
These two on the other hands have op fruit, but they're usage and full potential are limited by the plot.
One is literally light. The other have the ability to manipulate everything in a island sized sphere.

These two are the most egregious by far in one piece
Kizaru can move at light speed but all of his fights aren't over in an instant
And Law can do whatever the fuck he wants once his Room is up

wasnt hers supposed to attack eternal organs but the editors said it was too gory?

Not even that, the manga got so focused on Luffy that it killed the manga for me
>wait for Luffyspics denying it

>Robin fruit is mediocre.
Robin's DF is very flexible and has infinite applications. However, it is not suited for fighting. The guys she can beat, she generally stomps them no problem, but she doesn't have haki, so there isn't a lot she can do.

Robin should have learnt Rokushiki rather than Giganto Fetiche. Her speciallity was assassination when she joined SH.

How is Robin OP?

>breaks your neck

>He isn't the first post

Haki would make her op as hell. Also, imagine awakening.

>a character only matters if they get a fight
Based retard who didn't read the last fifteen arcs. There are other plots besides fights. And even in those fights there are usually important points later used in the story.

How many times do I have to tell you Oda specifically writes characters in a manner where they don't go around just destroying shit. They usually have a duty or their personality is a certain way that is established usually the moment we see them (Kizaru being lazy and slow, Law being serious and someone who plans things out in his favor.)

Basically this
/thread

He's roleplaying as Okuyasu. You're as stupid as Okuyasu, huh?

Kizaru is a better example.

Pre-timeskip robin is a eternal waifu.

bump

I keep hearing this argument like she isn't the only person on the crew besides Luffy who can grow giant limbs. And not to be the smug britshman, but it's 2019, women can get hurt in manga, if everyone else can get beaten to near death, Robin shouldn't be excluded from fighting in case she gets hurt, she's more than capable of defending herself. Strength isn't the issue, danger isn't the issue, the issue is that she's OP. It would be more fun if it was acknowledged in the story, instead everyone just chooses to ignore it because it's inconvenient to the plot.

>Robin learning Rokushiki

Despite that never going to happen, I would have LOVED to see that as well.

>grow infinite arms for infinite rankyakus
>stomp the air with 20 legs for faster soru
Holy shit this needs to happen right fucking now

>grow infinite legs or arms for infinite rankyakus or shigans

Fixed for you. And yes, that would be awesome alright! Hell, just a triple Rankyaku would be fine.

Attached: mCULm84.jpg (4670x4036, 3.45M)

Didn't Robin fight that exploding guy in Dressrosa? Granted his powers hard counter her since it was basically "touch me and lose a limb"

Also minor rankyakus coming from the walls and the floor
Fucking Oda

>character has an OP power but isn't written out of the story and said power becomes central to the entire backstory of the series

Haki was a mistake.

Can't she just grow a hand in her opponents heart or brain then crush it, instantly killing them?

>Character is generally in top 3 in popularity polls
>Is also the MC
>Is focused upon.
Wow, it's almost like Oda is appealing to majority of the fanbase?

Haki ruined One Piece fights. It was cool seeing hardcounters like Luffy VS Enel, or improvisions like Luffy VS Crocodile. Now it's just 'luckily I know a haki that instantly counters this fruit power)

>his neck is weak enough to be snapped by a tiny lady-girl
t. filtered by fishman island, never would have survived in the new world

>'luckily I know a haki that instantly counters this fruit power
Has literally never happened, Haki only supplements physical abilities and was necessary to justify some superhuman feats, as well as being an excuse to not shoehorn seastone into every scene with df users.
Also good job quoting the ONLY two fights where elemental interactions were important, like every other baby who complains about Haki while ignoring that fights are handled exactly the same as how 95% of pre-haki fights were handled. Not to mention it’s been explicitly stated that haki cannot negate logia powers if the user has transformed into their element before being hit, which means ANY elemental-matchup fights that could happen post-haki will still happen the same way as how Crocodile or Enel was handled (remember that they were ultimately just punched into submission anyways like every other enemy).

Or maybe a gigantic-ass Rankyaku unleashed by a giant leg made out of a thousand limbs!

its a kids show

>Summon it and it literally just murders everything in range with 0 way to defend

>tfw

Attached: fugo.jpg (198x277, 25K)

>OP power
Wot

She can make anything people can already make, in fact support heroes would be stronger from their one of a kind advanced tech they created themselves.. That's nothing compared to actual combat quirks.

>tfw robin will never lick your entire body using 1000 tongues

WTF did Robin,Franky and Brook do after they had their introductory arcs except have cameos here and there?

Toei: "We've lightened her skin to bring it in line with Oda's design"

>Leaves her with blue eyes even though Oda has them brown

FUCKING TOEI
