The important thing is whether the sex scenes will be adapted or not. The ones with Touko and Kyouko are plot relevant.

Sex scenes are unnecessary, anyway. It makes no sense for Reiji to stick his dick everywhere when he loves Touko so much.

In case you're talking about TypeMoon then their only current anime project with ufotable is HF3. If you mean FGO only then ufotable don't animate it at all.

Because elevens actually have high standards for mysteries. KnS can't even compete with more recent adaptations of honkakus like Sakurako or Subete in terms of mystery. And unlike burgers they don't care about gore.

VN adaptations for anything of a decent length almost always come out bad.

You shouldn't limit yourself to Japanese novels if you are interested in the genre, sine they can sometimes be meta, like "The Decagon House Murders", which references a lot of old golden age mystery writers.

But I would start with.
"Devotion of Suspect X" and "Tokyo Zodiac Murders"

Also read the sequel, while it doesn't have as much gore as the original its overall superior.

I’ve been trying to shy away from overly feelsy stuff for a while, my heart can only take so much at a time. I mean Fuck, that’s the reason why Tojiko’s death hit me like a goddamn freight train. She was really the only comic relief and probably the most upbeat character, and she gets one of the more brutal death scenes . I’m probably getting too hung up over this but what is it with the Japs that they can create such soul-crushing works of art?

It mostly is, but I do think KnS did it better nonetheless.
Besides, KnS 2 is even better than KnS 1--largely due to the atmosphere--and that one is nothing like Mouryou no Hako.

Gekkou is one of my all time favourite stand alone LN. Glad to see it getting some appreciation.

I think it's good to know the most famous works of christie, "orient express", "death on the nile", "roger ackroyd", "then there were none", "abc" come to my mind.
If you want you can also check out dickson's novels, he wrote just as many books as christie I think.
There are currently honkaku and new honkaku movements in Japan. I think "The Decagon House Murders" and "Tokyo Zodiac" gives you an idea as to why that is.

In the context of detective fiction, not so important, maybe if you are interested in the history of japanese detective fiction. Ranpo's Kogoro Akechi is basically a Japanese version of Holmes, so in the context of detective fiction, aside from starting the whole fanatism of mystery in Japan, there's not so much innovation from his side imo.

With that said, he is a phenomenal horror writer. I really enjoyed his short stories like "human chair". I think there's no horror writer in Japan who hasn't at least read all of his stories.

She was young, intelligent, teasing and damaged enough that she needed (You) to look after her. You failed.

I disliked her at the beginning. I didn't like her design or her cocky attitude, all I could think about was 'what do you want from me bitch'.
Now I think she is beyond all doubts one of the greatest characters ever written and I waifued her so hard when Miki included the obsession ending I thought he was talking about me.

Touko wasn't a helpless girl. She went out on her own and teased you every time you tried to be her protector (rape jokes etc.) Damaged she was in her own way, she never valued her life until she had something to live for later.

If she didn't need protecting why is she fucking dead?

Adaptations never seem to surpass the original content because VNs are just deeper story telling mediums compared to the quicker pace of animes.

The best adaptations stay true to the original story/theme/metaphor-wise while offering their own spin and viewpoint on things. A good example is Shirou's facial expression in Rider's blood fort in F/UBW. In the VN, Rin commented that Shirou's facial expression, emotions, and personality becomes irregular when people's lives are at stake. Anime captured Rin's POV of Shirou being a egoless cog very well whereas the VN you only see Shirou's POV.
