Honest question. Who do they think is going to be willing or able to buy physical copies of every fucking show that is getting produced currently? Most otaku only have a limited amount of funds, most of them only have a limited amount of storage space, most of them will only read or get into a certain number of series, and again, only have so much money so they will only alert on their favorites. The niche audience this stuff is being marketed to cannot possibly afford to support everything that is being thrown at them. A shame really. But it was to be expected. It had all the ingredients of a recipe for destruction. The 5toubun ripoff call after its success, the literal who VA, the new studio (which turned out to not be bad but was marketed poorly and gave a very bad impression which killed how much hype there could have been). I'm more sorry for Arvo and Silver because they've been doing a good job with the anime and you can tell there's effort being put into this, way more than 5toubun. Bokuben was always less popular than 5toubun. I don't know if there's a critical popularity point at which there's a landslide effect of popularity with the anime, at which it resonates and becomes exponentially more popular, but clearly Bokuben hasn't reached it and there's a good chance it never will. I will keep enjoying the anime as I've enjoyed the manga, I won't get a S2 and many of my favourite moments won't be animated. There won't be huge discussions about Bokuben nor daily threads because the series will always be only so popular. Maybe that will be for the best.
