We all thought father was gonna be kill by vamps, and it would have been perfect for Mikhail to be the one who accidentally killed him, with Ryoko ending up going apeshit on his ass and Yuliy ending up coming to save her eventually but nah man let's absolutely ruin the show in terms of writing after this point.

I'm so fucking tired of killing off characters for the sake of trying to tell yourself you're a better writer. We're at the point where keeping the people who the audience like alive at the end of the story could be seen as automatically subversive because of how saturated the anime has become with "please cry and praise my writing and suck my tiny jap penis because I denied you a satisfying ending by killing the character nobody wanted to die. My writing is so deep and mature, happy endings are bad bittersweet ending means I am expert writer." Happy endings as a default get boring but my God these wannabies are so fucked.

What a coincidence, I've also picked up a show for Sakurai this season. Turns out I hit the jackpot and I'm having a lot of fun with it.
This still hurts to see. I can't even open up the image to look at because it's too painful. His life was pain and suffering and was sad until the very end. At least he can rest in peace but I swear to god he deserved so much better.

Sorry. As I said, I'm still mad. This show is the epitome of this common phenomenon that I find happens so often in anime. This show happens to be particularly bad because, with it being an original project, you really need to work to get an audience invested in your work. In character driven stories you usually get people immersed in your story by the strength of those characters. This show had a lot of particularly bland and empty charcters but they weren't all like that. Misha and Cowboy Dave or whatever the fuck his name was, were pretty good charcters. The professor wasn't bad either. But it says a whole lot about the people making the show when the best possible thing the can come up with, keeping in mind that they only have one chance to really build a following by telling a satisfying story with the characters they creat, is to kill off those two most interesting characters they have created, literally the thing the majority of the audience did not want to see happen. What the fuck were they thinking? What is the point? How did that advance the narrative? What messages did it send to the viewer? What thoughts did it provoke? In what way did it make anybody excited to see any possible future material from this series? Such a fucking waste of time.
