It'll only allow you to get Third Magic at best if you opened a path to the Root because that's what it is: a mechanism to recover the Third Magic if you activate it. The two main things that are purely unnecessary edge in Zero are anything to do with Kariya and the Caster team. Nothing AS edgy happens in FSN, but yes it still has some edge (much of which is important to the story and characters). The thing that annoys me specifically about Zero is that much of that edge and suffering isn't metered out by warm, happy moments like in FSN. Most Gen's fucking characters are just lightening posts for suffering. Nasu allows us to actually relax and breath with the characters and learn to feel for them without just watching them suffer to get our emotions going.

I agree with almost all of the beginning of this, however the issue is that there are actual faggots out there who watched Zero first and expected the rest of Fate to be as edgy and brutal and were disappointed in the VN's adaptations. This has gotten to such an extreme that a vocal majority say that "Zero is the only thing worth watching" which leads me to believe that most of the Zerofags are normies (which it did appeal to many of them) and don't belong in the fan base or its discussion because they don't care about the characters enough and just wanted edgy action. Zero does a terrible job of making you like characters outside of Rider team.
