Do you miss fansubs?

>implying i ever stopped watching fansubs

I miss Gintama being good.

Yes. HS rips have some pretty atrocious placement of subs and often have no separation between subs when multiple characters are talking.

No. Fan groups always try to overtranslate shit and end up ruining everything.

This

I miss the passion behind them. And the karaoke during the op.

>ye oldy fansub drama.

Today we only have the first one.

I do.

>trollsubs was the same as fansubbers being occasionally silly
I hate these threads and the literal children posting in them

Yes I miss old fansubs and tl notes.

That's cartel. They weren't a thing in the past. They pooped out in 2nd part of last decade. Commie and other retards.

Almost every fansub nowadays is a complete trash. Commie, GJM, Asenshi etc.
Some other smaller groups are trying to do sounthing good but they are bullied by retards mentioned earlier. Occasionally some single anons are editing the most garbage of garbage official subs (like AnonsAlliance Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai in this season for example).

What's wrong with GJM?

Everthing. They are literal commie copy paste. Better ask what's not wrong with them. But that's a tough question too. Maybe their video encoding is not bad. That's all. Everthing other is my definition of garbo subs.

They're meme subbers. And the translator is a complete retard as evidenced by every time he tries to defend his shit subs

No, because I'm still using indo fansubs.

I wish rips had honorifics left in, am I autistic?

WISH WE COULD TURN BACK TIME

anime is a hobby for casuals now. no japaneseness allowed.

>Hai!
>"Hai" means "Yes" in japanese.

Why in the FUCK would they do it like this?

Attached: 1533633285268.jpg (640x480, 32K)

It's fun.

Weren't most fan subbers at high school level Japanese? Funny thinking how one show made them all stumble.

who doesn't

>search for anime
>click pic related
>download top one
I can only think of two instances out of hundreds when this wasn't the best release.

Attached: file.png (53x67, 941)

was that really the cause for its delay?

Most anime is aimed at high schoolers, so that's just perfect then.

Literally no one who miss TLnotes miss something like this obviously. And I have a feeling that most of screens like this are made up by cartel (like keikaku one).

Low standards and/or pure ignorance.

I think TNs were widespread because your western audience generally didn't know much about anime or Japanese culture. Now 10+ years later all that shit is far more ingrained.

How so?

Attached: file.png (1400x197, 48K)

That's why they are localizing everthing Japan-related to the core (except CR, CR's TLs are mostly okay). Anime, games etc?

Attached: kisama.jpg (396x1332, 63K)

Retarded question.

I stepped away from anime for a certain amount of years since 2008 and didn't get back around mid 2017.

Whatever the fuck happened with fansubs in general? Whenever I search tokyotosho, everything is from horriblesub.

Daiz killed them.

can you elaborate? I haven't heard that name in several years.

Crunchyroll and other official streaming sites killed them. There's no need for fansubs anymore because HS, or Erai or whatever rip the official subs about an hour after an episode airs. Fansubs now only show up for when Netflix holds a show hostage.

Meme answer, pay it no mind.

I kind of miss that literal approach some groups had to translation, which resulted in pretty weird grammar but let you figure out the Japanese language to an extent. It feels more satisfying than the semi-rewrites that official subs tend to produce.

If Kaizoku (One Piece) and KazeNoKoe (Det.Conan) were still around I'd give them money.
Fan subbers are the real unspoken MVP,

Nothing they are good and unlike commie they generally don’t do shit like meme up some show because the translator started disliking it.

>If Kaizoku (One Piece)
I'll just add that Kaizoku's highlighting of each character's signature special moves is magnificent, and I'm glad that at least two other subber groups at least attempted to follow in this tradition.

The custom graphics for each move, that is given straight in Japanese with a one time english translation note at the top, is Imo the optimum way to be introduced to OP, unless you're fluent in Jap that is.

I'm sad that later translations don't do all the wacky fonts associated with each character.

False dilemma, I care about the message which happens to be in Japanese, subs should convey the message with as little mangling as possible.

I miss trollsubs.
Where can you even find any of the old ones these days?

I like when they use different colors for different characters. The kind of details that show the passion behind them.

The only thing I miss is how they putted those explanations on top, I remember that chapter from OP of Zoro VS Kaku where there was a joke with Zoro imitating Kaku's way to speech, and the fansubber put a whole explanation of the joke since it was impossible to translate. Nor CR nor any other does things like that nowadays.

CURSE YOU DAIZ !

I always despised that. I can fucking hear who's talking, and that always looked shit.

I miss duwang

That and lyrics for OPs and EDs are why I will always miss fansubs.

It doesn't have to be 2 extremes, you retardo.

They are trashy and their leader is an idiot. They TL approach is literally the same like commie's
>Localize everthing because other cultures are evil and loan words doesn't exist.

>and people are too dumb to understand original meaning so it need to be rewritten into burger
Thanks God almost all series butchered by them have either good official subs (Bocchi for example) or different watchable subs.

Not that they weren't without their own issues but I miss them because they where usually a labor of personal investment on the part of the subbers or community. Now everything is cruncyroll rips or whatever and it's boring.

Their typesetting is retarded too. I'd rather watch something without any typesetting (just plain text TL of the signs) than completely replaced and erased original signs and texts.

>learn japanese
>don't have to deal with shitty translations aside from your own
>watching anime becomes relevant study time instead of flushing down the seconds until your pointless death

The worst thing about the end of fansubs is that now OVAs and specials take forever to get translated

TV-Nihon is cheating. They're like Hadena in reverse

Attached: subs.jpg (500x369, 52K)

Fansubbing, despite it being for good intentions to bring anime to other people, was largely for e-peen. When Crunchyroll came on the scene with their simulcasts, this led to the rise of stream rippers, notably HorribleSubs. The more popular CR got, the more shows HorribleSubs would put out. As time went on, it became clear fansubbers couldn't keep up and that's how we are now.

There has been a tiny rise due to Netflix though since they don't release things until after the show is over, people who want to see it have to rely on fansubs.

Attached: subs2.jpg (468x312, 32K)

That style of subbing was cool when I was 15 but I'm glad it's kind of dead now.

Attached: tvnihon.jpg (500x293, 31K)

Yeah, I honestly do miss honorifics and TL notes

Attached: 1555180405675.webm (1280x836, 2.88M)

Honorifics are still around, it depends on the show though.

BUT NOW THE GUILT IS ALL MINE

CR is mostly using honorifics (thankfully) and most of their translators are okay. Sometimes thay are hiring some part time retards (most likely editors) and they are doing completely garbage work (Gabu, Slow Start), same is happening when thay are receiving trash subs from Aniplex. But series with trash subs like this are getting fixed by some smaller groups or single anons.

Kisama was my favorite Zeta character

>relevant study time instead of flushing down the seconds until your pointless death
>implying you're going to speak Japanese IRL

>sista
