Monogatari. That being said, however Monogatari has a pretty high entry level as far as anime goes.

It benefits from a lot of understanding of common tropes and other anime/manga/novel series. Additionally with its fast pace dialogue and wordyness, it also takes decent sub reading skills to keep up with it and follow.

That said, i will always try to recommend people at least watch it once. It is too great of a series to pass up and i think everyone could benefit from at least one watch of it.

I would read Monogatari if I knew Japanese because apparently he genuinely has amazing prose, but there's no point in translation.
If I watched Tatami Galaxy with little trouble will I be fine with Monogatari?
Also can you give examples of tropes where I will not understand something if I am not familiar with them? I'm pretty sure I've seen enough anime to know most of them

True about reading it if you knew Japanese.I will say that Monogatari fits into that catagory of an adaption that really benefits from the studio producing it having their own vision of what the show should look like. as the show is extremely dialogue heavy they took a unique visual approach to the show to make it flow better. If your interested in a show with a unique visual approach then this would be right up your alley.
