The tone of the anime and manga are different. Anime is more cutesy and has slice of life filler. Manga has more action and darker material.

Yeah, it does, but the anime adds a lot of slice of life moments and filler episodes/arcs. The fights and the worldbuilding are good. Railgun S is also really good up until the Sister arc is over.

These. Railgun S first half (sister's arc) is the best animated arc to date. Nothing comes close. If you don't like that you probably won't like the rest of the franchise. The buildup for the first couple of episodes is a little slow, but absolutely worth it and by episode 5 it's when it really starts getting interesting.

It's during Season 2 of Index, Touma is a pretty major character and it's got some short appearances from people involved in Battle Royale from Season 3 (Baba, Xochitl).

No, but there is a lot of backstory in there. The manga is much closer in tone to Index so just read that if you can't into the show.

It's inherent to the nature of the show and manga as a spinoff of another, 'main' series but it's really frustrating when your capable protagonist with an extremely personal stake in the arc's events basically has to take a backseat to another show's protagonist for two or three episodes at the end of the storyline, because it's not really 'hers' originally.
It's a shame they couldn't or didn't want to figure out some way to make her more active in the resolution of Sisters for season 2.

I've seen this argument a lot and I don't agree with it because I see the Railgun sisters arc not as her heroic story but as an introduction into how fucking garbage Academy City is in general, which is an ongoing theme in Daihaseisai, Astral Buddy and every science side arc. Before this, Mikoto and all the civilians just saw it as muh quirky fun sci fi city but the sisters arc showed her that she can't escape it and that even level 5s have no power in AC. If she were able to stop the experiments on her own it would break the theme of all espers being trapped in the circumstances of AC.
That's why I really dislike Nagai's filler. The kids are way too competent and he seems to actually believe AC is just muh quirky sci fi city with some bad apples.

That's not a bad way of looking at it, but the show as written didn't really convey that. It was less 'look how utterly powerless she really is' and more 'look, the MC is here to clean up her mess'. It would've required a more extensive reworking to really get that across well. As it stands it's just unsatisfying.

The level fives are the exact opposite. AC is one of the few places where level fives are the most competent and hold the most power and influence. You’re looking at it all wrong, the usually run into problems when they run into other level fives. Even in the anime.

I admit it's a hindsight way of looking at it, taking everything you only find out about later in the novels, like Aleister's intentions with AC and Touma.

I'm starting to get annoyed by how the red head girls never seem to struggle in their fights or ultimately lose. Just got trough the episode where the lesbian brought a fucking building down to beat the grown ass man who had beat her up multiple times. Isn't she like 14 or some shit? You should at least check out the first half of the second season of Railgun if the fillers in the second half of the first season bore you. It's the most important arc in the franchise and arguably the best adapted one in every season of the franchise.

Agreed. Railgun starts out if I remember correctly with them marvelling about the accuracy of the weather reports, and everything about living in that science centered city being fun.
Even when they show Justice having a database of all espers and being able to track them - which is quite Orwellian - it didn't quite hit me until Misaka pointed out that AC's higher ups are aware of the human experiments and aren't doing anything about it.
In addition to that they introduce the term "child error", which by itself is already showing how fucked up AC is.
Add to that them showing the difference in living standards for high and low levels, which naturally creates animosity as Level 0s are scraping to get by.
To me at the very least, the Railgun spinoff is more about AC than about Misaka.

Okahara Ryouta, a Pyrokinesist enhanced to Level 3 through the Level Upper, displayed the ability to manipulate the flames he created to home in on a target.

Tsukuyomi Komoe's major is the study of Pyrokinesis.

Despite Okahara Ryouta being only a level three he’d be quite a tough opponent for his level for most espers and magicians. He did get embarrassed by Kuroko but Kuroko herself could make a lot of the level fives job if she really wanted to. She only loses when people have a hard counter or technology to disable or mess with her ability. I think it’s a good power in the grand scheme of things in terms for survival in the harsh streets of AC.

Mikoto isn't immune to being shocked, her body is still a normal meat and water bag. She just automatically redirects it so it won't harm her. A pyrokinesist can't just be automatically immune to being burned unless he has some bullshit ability like manipulating heat.

They could just control the direction of the heat to keep themselves from getting scorched. Stiyl isn't fireproof but still swings fire swords all around, and the key point to AIM jammers is that they cause espers to self destruct.

Depends on how they make fire. If it's just creating enough heat so something spontaneously combusts then maybe. It could also just be some form of molecule manipulation where they split water vapor into hydrogen and oxygen and then provide some sort of spark then they wouldn't be able to stop themselves from being burned too.

There's a pack of LNs on Nyaa that has corrected versions of the official translations, that's generally the best way. If you absolutely have to hold a physical book in your hand, then official is the only option unless you want to pay for printing/binding.

There's a filler arc about the scientist lady and saving her students from another evil scientist but I barely remember anything about the arc except the final episode, which was pretty fun action wise. And there's also a bunch of filler SoL episodes. If you want to finish S1 you could just try the episodes and if they seem like nothing is happening just skip the episode. The really good stuff happens in the first half of season 2

Judgment is only supposed to resolve minor issues like file reports and minor crimes. Kuroko is just a vigilante and goes after everything. The actual police are those adults in the body armor and they're more like a civil militia.

A lot of her role in the arc comes from her not knowing Misaka that well, that's why Misaki overlooks mindwiping her and why she wants to impress her. In the show, they know each other really well already so they'll have to write some original stuff to sort it out.

There’s Railgun S and it’s 10x better.

railgun is good. to a point. i would say it shines on the accelerator stuff as it was animated better mostly and that was the best arc of index season 1. so season 2 of raildex is the expanded version of that arc redrawn. its the high point of the franchise so far. the only thing that was cooler in the original index season 1 version of accelerator arc was that 3 hit combo on the railroad track to send them flying

Looking at that video again, it seems like I have gone trough all the episodes the fights in that video are from. Either that means that there are no further fights in the rest of the season or for some reason the person who made that video chose to just put in fights that occurred in 1-12 episodes in that video.

S is season 2, there's also Index (3 seasons) which Railgun is a spin-off of. You might as well continue with S since the meat of it is an expanded version of an Index arc so if you like it you'll probably like Index.
