Is any explanation necessary? Tracks without rubber pads are easier to drift.

The tracks on the T-55 in Goldeneye were modified to take Chieftain tracks with (albeit heavily worn) rubber grousers because the russians authorities where the scene was filmed wouldn't allow steel tracks on the roads. I just wanted to emphasise for user that while indeed, as the rest of the replies showed, drifting a modern MBT on ice or in wet mud is something absolutely possible and replicable, drifting on an older style of track, more like what ankou team's Panzer IV was wearing, on a harder, paved surface like a road or the concrete in the courtyard of the drifting/sliding scene in episode 12 is also possible, provided enough lubrication. /autism
