>Did you like the Ending
>Favourite secondary characters (for me it's the old man kurokawa)
Ending was garbage. He lost against some idiot who didn't know how to fight. But most importantly it left a lot of things unresolved. Like with the guy he knocked out who woke up but had his life ruined. His sister becoming sane again. And the love interest that was being set up, she was interesting, it felt like the mangaka wanted to go somewhere with her.
>Did you like the Ending
No, the guy who returned from being a cripple should've fucked him up in the end. Would've been pottery.
That would have been a good ending
user but to be fair he did actually defeat that guy in the end,was already outclassing him and ended up sparing him in the end(which he shouldn't have imo) but I agree with the rest.
I dropped it after some chapters because MC is such a unlikeable shit
Does he gets better in the later chapter?
Eh, there was a huge explosion that got the other guy impaled. I'm more upset by how hard that fight was for the MC, it shouldn't have been like that, not against an idiot with no fighting skills.
No, the entire point is that he's nonredeemable, he's the bad guy. Though in the very last arc a possible redemption or happy ending was foreshadowed but it didn't end that way.
Yeah he was the good guy all along.
What did you guys think of the arc with the dancer?
I dropped it at the dancer but will prolly finish it. Was good but got boring
It was shit, every arc the MC got worse and forgot everything he learned the previous arc.
Its a great martial arts and psycholgical manga and one of my favorites. Its a shame ryo never developes and stays a semi sympathic asshat most of the time
Yeah, his fighting skills severely deteriorated with time. He wasn't even half the fighter he was by the end of the manga compared to how strong he was when he fought sugawara.
It makes no sense for his skills to have dropped this low.
Honestly big let down, they were on to something interesting by showing how good Toma was has a potential grappler but none of that came through in the end as it should have, his obsession with ryo was also incredibly badly explained. The final fight was also pretty much shit. Ryo training with the MMA fighter was pretty fun tho.
I agree that they went too far with his decay,I guess their explanation was that the guy was like some genetic freak with natural insane stamina and strength but I didn't really like how much damage he was able to take unharmed (like getting striked in the throat hard and still recovered from that fully)
I found that the other fights in that tournament were more interesting, even if they were unfair.
There is such a thing as having a massive brain and a large bone structure but the mangaka went way overboard, it became ridiculous. Plus I really didn't like having someone this durable be a goofy fuck.
100% agree,I especially liked the fight of the judo guy against that massive black dogi character.
I really hated him and his brother. Really was hoping ryo would kill him in the end.
The cut off the MC's friend hang or something iirc, yet they got away. Though I guess the mangaka never made it clear whether or not the impaled guy survived.
I stopped reading when the ballet-dancer got introduced
OH MY LEFT HAND is what I think of this series
>Did you like the Ending
No. It should have ended when he whooped Sugawara's ass in the shrine. is good too.
Yeah, it was tragic, even ryo realized that they fucked up. It would have been a good ending.
Thoughts on the Black monkey arch?
It was extremely bad and pointless
Generic martial arts magic bullshit with the classic "the apprentice becomes evil and kills the sick master". It got retconned which made it even worse.
Manga is fantastic until the shrine fight, then become worse and worse to the point of being barely readable.
Then it ends in a ridiculous manner.
I liked the film, even though it ended up making some major changes to sanitize the story. I stopped reading after they did the typical seinen "oh, you're not going to see the main character for several volumes because our story is mature" thing. Is it worth reading past that point?
Worst part of the series and should have been cut entirely
Read it several years ago when it wasn't finished yet. I'll catch up today.
Do it man, enjoy your reading user
i want to be Ryo, wish me luck
Good luck, don't forget to get raped and kill your family first.
Are you a manlet? That's required.
Bump.
This
The mma Training was a pretty decent ark
I find the movie explanation that the sister was the murder pretty decent to be honest
What was his endgame?
Idk but he died like an idiot. And his buddy the CEO got shafted so much it was comical, killed by some random thugs.
I really didn't like how he turned on ryo trying to "destroy what he created". Completely ridiculous, his character was always hellbent on the traditional way of martial arts, survival at all costs then turns his back on ryo? He even congratulated him on the juvi after he beat da fuck out of a prisoner, still taught him karate(giving him special attention) after knowing he murdered his parents and hated the Banryukai. Terrible way to end his character.
The way the characters behaved once the author quit and only the mangaka remained was just a mess.
I also have no idea what the mangaka was trying to do with the last arc. It felt like he was setting up a redemption but then he ended the manga abruptly with a big fuck you to ryo, dying alone, his luck having ran out. Sometimes I feel like he had some plans but then just said fuck it and changed the ending very late.

100% I think they fucked him the hardest

I have no problem with him dying alone,in pain and even without redemption (since the manga always liked to turn things upside down and be unconventional) but they let so many loosen ends I wish they would have ended. His sister recovery, the twins etc
Kind of sucks it's finally done for
I would have been ok with him dying alone but the problem for me was the entire set up with the girl he met, him trying to live a quiet peaceful life with his sister and his friend ...
It should have ended with the first story arc, the faggot dancer, the tournament and the stupid death in the wood is just cancer.
>Did you like the Ending
Honestly there was no other way to end the manga, Narushima is a fuck prick and a psycho. His death is not suppose to be heroic or have glory, he's just a bad person that eventually dies in a bad way.
>Favourite secondary characters
The Judoka that fought against the Black Gi Karateka. His compromise to his beliefs and what Judo stands for, really made him my favorite character.
rape rape rape
>And his buddy the CEO got shafted so much it was comical, killed by some random thugs.
That was realistic tho. Everyone in Shamo suffers, the good and the bad and the CEO wasn't no exception. His death also works as a preview to how Narushima was going to die, alone in the middle of nothing.
Real fights good, MMA bad
It is funny. I normally hate these suffering storys. It was the only part of the story that the mangaka managed to continue and shamo is the only time i found the story somehow satisfying, even with this ending. It felt chaotic. It felt realistic
Shamo is only good in the first arc, after that became generic shonen shit in China.
Realistic yes it felt very sudden and it ended his character abruptly, much like what happened with many characters at the end ...
This
Last bump.
