Thanks for the dump. Grandma truly is lovely and Aika's determination to train in the face of relaxing and joy-inducing times is quite adorable. I think Akari takes the adorable cake though with her bug-catching form. But this chapter proves that Aqua definitely isn't perfect - who thought it'd be a good idea to bring mosquitoes along!?
Looks like they've ventured a fair way away from Neo Venezia. I think that it's likely they took the train from NV's equivalent of Santa Lucia station! While travelling into Venice by train might not get you the same picturesque view of St Mark's Basin you see when arriving by boat, it truly is a unique experience of its own. Suddenly, you stop seeing land outside your window and instead there's nothing but the water of the lagoon beneath you. The towers and domes of the city grow ever nearer, you even pass an abandoned island positioned right next to the railway bridge - and eventually, you arrive at Santa Lucia. Then it's a simple case of heading off the train, down the platforms, through the concourse and you're on the banks of the Grand Canal already.
It might take away from the mystery, but part of me wouldn't mind seeing some sort of map of the landmasses and such on Aqua. Just to see how everything relates to one another. See if any areas were terraformed in the styles of other nations. I sure would like Akira-sama to show me what other settlements there may be on Aqua, provided she can get the time off work.

Another turn, and another perspective of canal; but not interminable. The silver beak cleaves it fast,—it widens: the rank grass of the banks sinks lower, and lower, and at last dies in tawny knots along an expanse of weedy shore. Over it, on the right, but a few years back, we might have seen the lagoon stretching to the horizon, and the warm southern sky bending over Malamocco to the sea. Now we can see nothing but what seems a low and monotonous dock-yard wall, with flat arches to let the tide through it;—this is the railroad bridge, conspicuous above all things. But at the end of those dismal arches, there rises, out of the wide water, a straggling line of low and confused brick buildings, which, but for the many towers which are mingled among them, might be the suburbs of an English manufacturing town. Four or five domes, pale, and apparently at a greater distance, rise over the centre of the line; but the object which first catches the eye is a sullen cloud of black smoke brooding over the northern half of it, and which issues from the belfry of a church.

Right, thanks! Not sure how easy those are to come by... Funnily enough, I recognise parts of where that route goes through. Between points 3-4, there's a bridge leading to a handy supermarket (great for if you're staying at a hotel that doesn't have its own restaurant and you need to stock up your own food/drink for the room). In fact, it should be the same canal that was seen in an earlier thread where some ARIA cosplayers took videos of themselves piloting an actual gondola.
