>Koyomi Araragi receives a request from Iezumi, an associate professor of linguistics: "Please save my child from my abuse." Apparently, they had heard from Sodachi Oikura that Koyomi is "an expert on child abuse." As Koyomi scrambles to take his beloved car to the associate professor's apartment, the scene of the abuse, he is suddenly confronted by Yotsugi Ononoki. He has no idea why she's tagging along, but the pair soon bear witness to an astonishing sight at their destination.
are spoilers for this out yet? it released yesterday in japan
Yup, a few. Doll is wearing that sundress cause Bird likes to dress her up. This leads to doll using Koyomi's car as a panic room to hide. When Koyomi refers to Math in this novel, it's by "sweetheart" or "lovely". One big arc narrated by our MC, one small arc narrated by Snake. Following the college years. Cat's life was pretty terrible for a while due to having to pay back for the fighter jet she rented in order to get back to the town on time in Owari 2. Yotsugishadow is about Snake. Doll creates an oddity this arc and this annoys Gaen to the point where she no longer wants Doll to stay at the Araragi household.
>As Koyomi scrambles to take his beloved car to the associate professor's apartment Haha, I can see why Hitagi hates that car.
Ayden Myers
>wanting to save kids >ask pedorararagi to help Dumb professor
Carter Wilson
based Math
Daniel Diaz
nice foot her face is a huge turn down tho
Angel Perez
Why do you post the same shit every time
Luke Cox
Apparantly Araragi's parts in Monster Season so far have literally just been him showing to have learned from his prior mistakes and properly helping people (all kids incidentally) out. I'm only going off of summaries and comments from others though.
Cooper Jenkins
A birdfag from the previous thread wanted to know if she has scenes this novel and she does.
Elijah Bennett
Pizzagate is real
Kayden Robinson
>When Koyomi refers to Math in this novel, it's by "sweetheart" or "lovely". Best grumpy couple
Logan Adams
What God? Feet atleast smell and look better than you do, fatass.
Jordan Ramirez
>Cat's life was pretty terrible for a while due to having to pay back for the fighter jet she rented in order to get back to the town on time in Owari 2 Being cat is suffering.
James Adams
I find her face quite erotic, user. Don't be a bully.
Joshua Nelson
>Cat's life was pretty terrible for a while Was her life ever not terrible?
Benjamin Rivera
This but unironically
Blake Garcia
>nisio heroine >not suffering in some way user, c'mon. This is just Nisio 101. Math is a favorite of his, and she's had a shit life.
Jaxson Powell
How many old men did she have to fuck to pay it off?
John Taylor
So Yotsugi is apparently nowhere to be seen in Musubi because she ends up with Nadeko then?
Also it's pretty blatant that Nisio regrets not introducing Sodachi earlier on, he keeps including random bits about her & Koyomi's relationship in every book now
Levi Gray
God invented feet too though.
Kayden Anderson
All of them.
Julian Russell
>So Yotsugi is apparently nowhere to be seen in Musubi because she ends up with Nadeko then? Not sure.
>Also it's pretty blatant that Nisio regrets not introducing Sodachi earlier on, he keeps including random bits about her & Koyomi's relationship in every book now I mean he does this with Cat a lot as well. Nisio just likes to tease all the relationships if anything.
Luis Parker
Oh, and the next novel of Nisio's will be his 100th one in case no one knew that.
Brody Richardson
Next one is the one I'm interested in the most personally
Cause it's his 100th or do we have some info on it already?
Robert Robinson
All we know about it is the name of it + the two arcs in it (Ougimonogatari, containing Ougi Light and Ougi Fright)
Adam Diaz
>Koyomi is "an expert on child abuse." She's right, but for all the "wrong" reasons.
Leo Miller
>those soft suckable toes
Colton Clark
not even one she's too strong
Dominic Wright
Math was twisting the knife with that line. When she was younger she invited him to her house specifically so that he was report the abuse she was suffering, but he didn't catch on.
Ethan Perry
That's the official story, which is a blatant handwave to cover up what's actually happening.
Thomas Roberts
roriragi messed up horrifically with a kid getting abused before, maybe he sees doing stuff like this as repentance or some shit it's definitely intentional on Nisio's end that his stories in Monster Season so far involve him helping abused kids
Blake Morris
Actually it was satan who invented clothes. And oh man was he a genius.
Gabriel Bell
so what's the mystery and did they solve the issue?
Mason Barnes
No idea yet. Probably related to Doll creating the oddity.
Colton Williams
sucks to be you
Michael Brooks
Gaen basically becoming Araragi's crazy aunt is weird. Initially she just kept an eye on him because of the threat with Shinobu but now she just looks out for him specifically for some reason.
Caleb Bailey
Neutralizing the world's strongest vampire with kindness is a pretty convincing demonstration of skill as a specialist. There's not really any mystery as to why Gaen is trying to keep him in her clutches.
Cooper Flores
I mean she was surprised before that Araragi actually did shit that she was unable to predict for once. That plus he reminds her of Tooe, it's not that crazy that she'd have an interest in him.
Eli Russell
Ok more info. Slighty more important than the previous spoilers
It's called the Buddy arc supposedly. Takes place during summer. Koyomi and Bird meet in their household. She tells him she's off to go hiking with her junior classmates since they heard of a deserted dead body appearing in a near town. It's mentioned that Bee is hiking with her senior HS classmates. Fast forward a few chapters, Bird sends him a message that she's on her way back and that she didn't find out anything about that dead body. Also mentions she's going to play with Snake. She loves to dress up Doll, but Doll runs away with from her. At the end of the story, Bee will lose "her" Doll. During this arc, Doll does something terrible, she created an oddity.
That seems to be the flow of the story from what I was able to find. Nothing about child abuse yet.
Liam Moore
I thought Zoku was the last of the franchise though.
just a random chick that needed help I think maybe someone less brainlet than me can explain it better but Araragi's narrative involves way more of these one-off characters like that than before in general now
Julian Bell
>He should put a baby in Math already. he has a girlfriend you idiot. hitagi and he already promised to marry her in musubi which takes place after this novel.
Jaxon Baker
He should dump her for real already instead of pussyfooting about it.
Isaac Hernandez
So Araragi is now dating math? What happened to crab...
Christopher Wood
So? It could and should still happen.
Ian Foster
>So Araragi is now dating math? No, him and Math are sort of like how he is with Cat. Well that's the closest comparison I guess but it's not quite the same thing.
Ian Davis
stop this shit. when its not some batfags, its someone else starting up. hitagi is his girlfriend and future wife. if he has kids with anyone, it will be HER.
Henry Gutierrez
Crab wasn't even mentioned until you brought her up, stop trying to start this shit everyone's tired of seeing every Monogatari thread already
Ian Cooper
He'll marry Snail though. He promised way, way in advance.
Austin Jackson
Math threatened suicide when Hitagi and Koyomi broke up because of her.
Levi Ortiz
i mentioned her cause he's taken already and he vows to marry her and we see her in a wedding kimono on the musubi novel. why cant some you just accept the main couple already? ridiculous
Nolan Edwards
they broke up and she didn't commit suicide though
Jacob Walker
Their dysfunctional relationship isn't going anywhere. >b-but take this bait-and-switch illustration at face value instead of paying attention to the massive tidal wave of issues that they've been shoving under the carpet for literal years >nisio definitely doesn't have any precedent of shoving reality in a shitty couple's face after they ignore their issues for the entire series
>stop this shit. when its not some batfags, its someone else starting u Thread was completely civil until you showed up though has nothing to do with liking or disliking Gahara, but it's the few autistic Crabfags like you as well as the few autistic Batfags you're talking about who sperg out whenever she's not being talked about that shit these threads up every time, just fuck off already
Camden Russell
So Math is now his concubine? Or are Math, Araragi, and Cat all Crabs concubines?
Robert Wilson
No wonder she becomes Punished Cat in the future
Nathaniel Price
Forced relationship is forced. It's very clear that Arararagi is better with literally any other girl than crab.
Easton Taylor
>everyone sick of crab and her rabid, retarded fanbase's shit is a batfag
Nah, it's like this >Gahara's his girlfriend, though they don't interact much >Shinobu's his soulmate, generally always there in the background but doesn't really do much most of the time (except to occasionally fuck everything up somehow to make the plot move along I guess) >Sodachi's basically his best friend during the college years? >Hanekawa got rejected, she's like his mom now. Also she becomes Big Boss or something. >Karen's just his sister, technically enjoys the most stereotypical romance with him in the cast, but also it doesn't count because they're just siblings bro >Araragi and Hachikuji look out for each other as bros, they also enjoy raping each other >Ougi is Araragi, also is his daughter, also is Meme's niece, also is a dude, also is a spooky but well-intentioned ghost who haunts Araragi's school >Yotsugi's another friend, Yotsugi felt this pretty much from Second Season onwards apparently but it took Araragi a while to realise that's how it was
Alexander Howard
Not what I said. I also said a few specific Crabfags and Batfags, not all of them. If you've been in a thread for this series before you'd know what I'm referring to.
Jackson Wilson
>she's like his mom now Who builds a shrine made up of old hair, a pair of panties, and a bra for someone they feel is their mom?
>Karen's just his sister Acts like his girlfriend more than his actual girlfriend.
Jaxson Ward
>Who builds a shrine made up of old hair, a pair of panties, and a bra for someone they feel is their mom? One of those depraved Japanese moms who let their sons lewd them if it means they'll focus on their work, yeah
>Acts like his girlfriend more than his actual girlfriend. It's just standard sibling closeness bro, dunno what you're talking about
Kayden Miller
I just want more Koyomi x Karen living together shenanigans please Nisio pander to my unsane fetish.
Luis Bennett
>Acts like his girlfriend more than his actual girlfriend. That user did acknowledge this, so clearly you didn't read it through. I also care more about their romantic tension than I ever did for Crab, even in their best scenes (except for probably the date in Bake).
You're right about Hanekawa though. To some extant she acts like the mom at times, but there's also the aftereffects of their unhealthy semi-mutual obsessions to deal with.
John Barnes
Koyomi ends up in Gaen's harem
Jordan Campbell
What's is Genesis 3:21...
Kevin Perry
>When Koyomi refers to Math in this novel, it's by "sweetheart" or "lovely". Nice
Grayson Cox
>When Koyomi refers to Math in this novel, it's by "sweetheart" or "lovely" There any given reason for this? Surely he's not getting settled with Sodachi is his newfound love behind his girlfriend's back because that would be too good to be true.
Landon Hall
>behind his girlfriend's back He doesn't do this behind her back
Joshua Hall
>There any given reason for this? Nope. Maybe we'll know if there's a reason for it when those that read the novel want to give out more spoilers. This was during the college years so maybe he on break from Crab? They broke up like 3 or 4 times from what I recall.
Andrew Clark
>He doesn't do this behind her back So Crab knows? I really can't help but disagree. Didn't she get angry when she found Math was living at the household? Which then caused a break-up.
Chase Hughes
Gahara talks about Hanekawa the same way to Koyomi's face and probably spends more time with her than Koyomi does after a point in the story, what's the difference here?
Carson Sanders
>tfw Math is designed as wearing her hangups and mental issues as part of her character and recovery >tfw she provides the "sick/frail girl" appeal (previously described by Hanekawa) and volatility that Crab had lost after being cured in one arc Is this why she's so alluring? It's like Crab but her problems weren't solved overnight and her backstory has a more personalized quality with how it affected Araragi's formative years.
>Didn't she get angry when she found Math was living at the household? Yeah but Araragi hiding it made that seem way more suspicious than it was, even if Araragi's fears of Gahara getting upset about the idea weren't entirely unfounded it would've been more sensible to just tell her from the get go what was happening.
Nathaniel Lopez
Well her relationship with Cat never caused a break-up for starters. I don’t think Crab would take too kindly to knowing that he refers to his childhood friend that he claimed to not even look at as the opposite sex as “sweetheart” and “lovely”. Crab is a jealous one.
Adrian Parker
Araragi repressed and was somewhat traumatised by the whole thing with her for ages too, it's probably a massive weight lifted off of his shoulders that he's able to just talk to her sort-of normally now also after Zoku he probably can't help but feel a little closer to her now, even if it wasn't the real her in that story
Jayden Ross
Take your pills, schizo.
Jace Sanders
Lol no.
Nathan Taylor
>know a guy who likes anal >hates feet nigger if you're deep tonguing butthole and not sucking on toes then you were probably foot molested as a child
Nathan Stewart
Does it take place in between or during the one of their 2 college breakups?
Ryan Campbell
What happened in monster season so far?
Joseph Scott
No clue yet, but I'm pretty sure he completed his first year since the novel takes place during summer. Did Musubi state when the first break-up took place, like the 1st or 2nd or 3rd year?
Jack Gutierrez
Kissshot's master returned to Japan.
Chase Scott
All of Monster Season is set during the college years so far
>during the one of their 2 college breakups? Not specified I think, outside a couple specific arcs in this series that sort of thing is never the focus anyway
First book involved the vampire chick who turned Shinobu into a vampire, later arc titles make it clear that she'll show up again later. For the most part it's just stories of college Araragi solving mysteries (and Gaen slowly bringing him into her band of specialists I guess) while changing POV to some other characters now and then
Liam Hernandez
crabfags absolutely assblasted. grasping for straws because they know senjo has 0 chemistry with rrrg compared to other heroines
Brandon Smith
Wait, is this set after Musubi?
Jace Campbell
No, it's before Musubi, in college.
Nicholas Martin
Math and Araragi are fun because they actually feel like an equal relationship (Araragi is neither submissive or overwhelming, and Sodachi neither throw herself at him nor actually want to hurt to him in any way) and who can be completely honest about their thoughts about the other.
Every reveal about their relationship is about one of them friendly teasing the other and back.
>puts bride!crab on the cover >actual content reveals they broke up 4 times >doesn't actually write about the wedding >doesn't even bother to write about the proposal Makes me chuckle every single time.
James Jones
The cover is the wedding, it's a hint for retards like you. Araragi doesn't care about the breakups, he loves her very much, feels devastated without her and wants to marry her. Of course she will say yes.
Joshua Jones
>feels devastated without her I thought it was the other way around according to leaks way back? Unless I missed something recently.
Josiah Nelson
>I thought it was the other way around according to leaks way back? It was. Crab was the one to show up at his home with glasses on to cover her swollen eyes.
Charles Collins
No, he is very sad and wants her back as soon as possible. He even wants to go abroad to be with her.
crabfag here. I actually wait for something like this to happen, such the the whole show can finally come to an end (yeah, who am I kidding). And by something like this I talking motherfucking bloodbath, or apocalypse levels of horrors. The EoE of Raragantari. Obviously only shinobu and rara are going to survive this. Something along those lines is going to happen, right? Sooner or later. Right?
It's basically Nisio's fix for Ragi and crab's boring, shitty relationship. If only he would have the guts to write crab out entirely.
Samuel Thomas
To be honest I wouldn't mind Crab sticking around like other cast members if they broke up. I just think she'd be far better suited to being Araragi's ex than his girlfriend/wife. She's entertaining sometimes and she has a unique perspective, but in terms of chemistry and romantic tension she falls behind three other heroines by far - at the absolute minimum - so I have no investment in where their relationship goes.
Luke Lee
Araragi's blood doesn't have this function anymore though, he is too weak now. If he tries to get more vampire power with Shinobu, he will be turning into a complete vampire as mentioned in the story.
Daniel Jones
>he will be turning into a complete vampire Well, yeah. How else is he supposed to survive the raragumentality?
Joshua Collins
Arguing Araragi's love interest is bullshit >He was about abandoned everybody to be with Snail when she is going to the hell. >His first priority is live with Shinobu forever >Stay together forever was said to Hitagi as well. >He was willing to die for Hanekawa after the you die I die you live I live shit.
David White
Jesus fuck, this madman has written 100 novels. And these aren’t light either, many of them are over 500 pages with no pictures.
Julian Miller
So basically Araragi is a slut.
Brandon Long
He also promised to marry snail and accepted a suicide pact with math.
Reading Wazamonogatari >Suicide Master eats every piece of her minion's blasted corpse with love. >She finishing eating with the last part, the minion's tone Holy shit why is this scene so romantic?
Nathan Gomez
>tone tongue, I am sorry.
Jordan Kelly
>Ougi is Araragi, also is his daughter, also is Meme's niece, also is a dude, also is a spooky but well-intentioned ghost who haunts Araragi's school >Arararagi's spirit is haunting his school That seems a tad ironic.
David Russell
Hitagi worst girl
Blake Flores
Shinobu's blood still does, like in Neko Black. If he desperately wanted her to help like that, the only reason she would refuse if it were strongly in his best interests to.
Jaxson Clark
And domestic violence!
Carson Turner
The monogatari series has become so trash is a miracle it's still relevant. Only pretentious waifu baiting crap
Jaxson Gray
>*inhales profusely*
Isaiah Cook
>Araragi and Hachikuji look out for each other as bros, they also enjoy raping each other That's all I could hope for.
Bruh, everyone here knows even crabfags know that Bat will always be Araragi's number one. Also the thread was going nice until you brought your retarded crabfags delusions. >MUH BATFAGS START EVERYTHING fucking kys and you need to go back
No, Hanekawa won't give him no play, it's just doting advice now. She even took back the underwear she knows he kept all that time. She is just watching people from the shadows.
>thinking Kiss-shot and Ragi together would be able to take over the world when Oshino exists.
You can be as powerful as you want, hell, you can be so strong throwing yourself into the sun doesn't work but no-one can defeat Oshino with prep time. Even in Route X when Oshino died, he still took Kiss-shot with him.
Anthony Turner
Prisma Illya is the only good -gatari.
Xavier Bailey
Not like that, she is being a guardian of the group of sorts. Taking the hit for Ragi and not telling him about it, I do wonder what is causing her to suffer from chattering that jet.
Nah, he was fine with a double suicide with Ougi and this was right at the end of his character development.
Araragi lives first and foremost for himself now. Gahara and Shinobi are the ones who choose to stay with him even when given the oppurtunity to leave, not the other way around. If for whatever reason they do decide to leave him he may be sad about it but ultimately he'll try to move on from it and just continue his life as normal, from what we've seen anyway.
>he loves her very much, feels devastated without her and wants to marry her. He does, but those break-ups also showed that he can continue his life without her.
Alexander Brown
Yeah, I mean, many anons don't realize that there is a literal fucking storm waiting to happen. It's like Nisio is dodging the point completely till it blows.
Alexander Wright
Obviously he can but he doesn't want to.
Elijah Hall
>After college What were during college years? I've only seen the anime so I assume theyre pretty far behind but I didn't think they were that far as araragis hasn't even started University there
Parker Nelson
How about snek?
Levi Lopez
That's not correct. >If for whatever reason they do decide to leave him he may be sad about it but ultimately he'll try to move on from it and just continue his life as normal, from what we've seen anyway. Regarding Shinobu, this is dead wrong. It's true that Araragi can give his life on the drop of a hat, even with the vows he made towards Shinobu. That's just who he is. But he absolutely refuses to live without Shinobu. This is nothing new. If we're talking about who Araragi treasures more, it's always been Shinobu, even Hitagi acknowledges this fact. In Shinobu Mail, for example, Araragi Shinobu asked Araragi who he would choose between Hanekawa, Hitagi and herself, it ended with Araragi dodging the question. But later in that arc, Gaen presents him with the same question, and he chooiced to fight Sheishiro first because that was more important to him. Because he somehow deluded himself into thinking that Seishiro was far better than him for Shinobu and that she would leave him.
Oshino is strong sure, and his tactics are downright scary, but everything around his strengths is set down situational. Like, stealing Kiss-Shots heart, was a one-time thing he could only do at that time because of circumstances. There is no one who could face a double full vampire Shinobu and Araragi. They are too fucking broken
Gabriel Watson
Sweet. Now she can be my onee-san too.
Oliver Nelson
>not the other way around. If for whatever reason they do decide to leave him he may be sad about it but ultimately he'll try to move on from it and just continue his life as normal, from what we've seen anyway. user, Araragi literally denies every possible situation of Shinobu leaving him peacefully, because he simply doesn't want her out of his life. Are you smoking or something? There is a monologue in the novels where he says that is he had to describe what Shinobu was to him, he said: "my heart"
Hudson Martin
He went after Crab in Musubi, stop twisting things.
Elijah Brown
>He went after Crab in Musubi, stop twisting things. No she came back to him crawling begging for him to take her back.
Levi Turner
She just came back. Stop your bullshit.
Joshua Russell
>there is a literal fucking storm waiting to happen Exactly what I'm talking about.
Well, he not exactly wrong though, Araragi did plan to move his work closer to her. In the end, she came back crying to him and that's where it ended. Araragi loves Hitagi, but it's a fucked up relationship because he can never fully devote himself to her. Hitagi knows this but accepts it, she can never be #1 in his heart, since his heart is Shinobu (his words). It's funny how Nisio is literally sweeping all the problems under a rug until he decided to pull it away and cause a shitstorm.
Jason Martin
> it's a fucked up relationship because he can never fully devote himself to her. Hitagi knows this but accepts it, she can never be #1 in his heart It's not even a problem for them. They broke up because of different career paths not because he has Shinobu in his shadow.
Ryder Thomas
Go read the final part again and tell me she didn't crawl back to him after all the shit she did
True, but their relationship is starting to get bored and "overused"
Lucas Johnson
>It's not even a problem for them Are you fucking kidding me LMAO
Parker Roberts
She didn't crawl back, retarded hater. She just came to his house to meet him and talk about their future. Where was this problem mentioned? Ever?
Cameron Sullivan
>It's not even a problem for them. They broke up because of different career paths not because he has Shinobu in his shadow. You're missing the point, even other characters in the series call Araragi out for this fact. It's unfair towards Hitagi.
Samuel Hughes
> even other characters Who and where.
Anthony Myers
Math does so, Ononoki does it too, even Ougi at one point teases him about it, by calling Seishiro his romantic rival.
Luis Taylor
>She didn't crawl back, retarded hater. She just came to his house to meet him and talk about their future. How dumb are you? She broke up with him for stupid reasons, then came back crying to be with him again. How is that not crawling?
Uhm lets see, the fact she admits it's pointless to let him live if Shinobu dies or the fact that he will outlive her? OH maybe because she will be too fucking old while he still looks the same? Never a problem
They'll break up for good eventually get over it.
Ryan Hall
In Musubi mostly dumbfuck. Why are you talking about thing if you didn't even read the novels? Fucking kill yourself
Hudson Sanders
Basically this. Hitagi was faster, but Araragi had already begun to adjust things in order to be able to work overseas. Time and time again, we're shown how important to Araragi his relationship with Senjougahara is. This bickering between Bat and Crab is stupid because both mean something different for him. He loves them both and he doesn't want any of their relationships to go to waste. He values his humanity and the ordinary in Hitagi and his self and his inner desires in Shinobu (people also forget that Shinobu is also a reflection of Araragi himself).
Michael Watson
You don't know how to read, huh? The time they broke up for something stupid was the second, still in the middle of college and when their relationship was strained because of Sodachi. The third time was because of different carreer paths and they both supported each other. There is literally a link to chapters that explain this. She came back because she wants to be with him and she didn't ruin her life for it, the same as he was going to do for her.
Easton Smith
> Math does so Math doesn't even know about Shinobu what are talking about? They discussed his relationship with Crab in Musubi like it was a normal relationship with common problems. Their problems were their careers and distant relationship, not Shinobu.
Ononoki is a grumpy old ghost and Ougi is Araragi himself.
Isaiah Price
>"That girl is Araragi-kun's treasure, you see. If she were to die, keeping Araragi alive would be meaningless." In my eyes, it's nothing but fucked up. She acknowledges that Araragi treasures someone else over her and Araragi even solidifies this fact by choosing Shinobu over everyone. So, the fact that he can even think of devoting himself to someone else, while he's already done so, is mindboggling. >Math doesn't even know about Shinobu what are talking about? They discussed his relationship with Crab in Musubi like it was a normal relationship with common problems. Their problems were their careers and distant relationship, not Shinobu. Math is not retarded, and the careers/distance weren't the only problems user. Even if she doesn't know about Shinobu, she's smart enough to see that what Araragi is doing in "unfair" to Hitagi. She literally says so.
William Perez
No he doesn't, he gives Shinobu the option to leave at the end of Owari. She decides to stay, he didn't make her stay.
Julian Johnson
>Ougi is Araragi himself. Yeah, exactly. Good job getting that.
Ryder Scott
> In my eyes, it's nothing but fucked up. Replace Shinobu with a child from his ex/dead wife. There is nothing wrong with Hitagi accepting Shinobu.
Adrian Rogers
>No he doesn't, he gives Shinobu the option to leave at the end of Owari. Oh, I see, blantely lying are we now? That never happened user, don't make up blatant lies or post false information. >"Of course, after successfully ridding his body of all its vampire elements, if my master wishes to no longer become a vague existence neither human nor vampire, I shall retract my wish. After healing that arm of his, I shall hide myself away in a mountain to live the life of a hermit" >Araragi: "NOT HAPPENING"
Bentley Wright
>Replace Shinobu with a child from his ex/dead wife Here we go with Reddit's >Araragi and Shinobu have a father/daughter relationship >There is nothing wrong with Hitagi accepting Shinobu. Hitagi never accepted Shinobu though. In fact, she probably close to hates her since she refuses to step into Araragi's car. Guess why.
Samuel Young
>Replace Shinobu with a child from his ex/dead wife >father and daughter Oh, good lord, reddit is here.
Owen Wood
>but Araragi had already begun to adjust things in order to be able to work overseas. He was never seriously intending to move abroad, he wanted to go there and bring her back, somehow. He spent all of Musubi trying to find the motivation (for the lack of a better word) to go overseas, he could've gone for her earlier if he wanted but kept making excuses. Several characters pick up on this and Araragi himself makes it pretty blatant.
Araragi's main romances are intentionally fucked up and hypocritical. Literally one of the main themes in the series and on some level applies to every character who's ever been a narrator.
Caleb Collins
Other way around. Shinobu offers to leave, Araragi says no. It gets misquoted and twisted by everybody on both sides for some reason
Gavin Stewart
> she refuses to step into Araragi's car. Stop imaging things or post the proofs. And even if she does it means absolutely nothing. She accepted Shinobu since the fucking beginning.
Caleb Powell
>Stop imaging things or post the proofs It's not imagining, it's the truth. Hitagi refuses to get into that car. And you're asking for the source, but that was posted a fucking long time ago in these threads during the summer two years ago. >She accepted Shinobu since the fucking beginning. She didn't, they both tolerate each other. Well, it's more like Shinobu tolerates her. Hitagi just completely ignores her, cause she can't do anything about it. Taking Shinobu away from Araragi is the same as killing him. She's forced with it.
Grayson Jones
Where was that stated? Also she got her own car before Araragi did IIRC
Ethan Nguyen
>Also she got her own car before Araragi did IIRC Yeah, but we're talking about that bright yellow car of his, where the only person allowed to sit in the front is Shinobu. Hitagi refuses to get into that.
Bentley Smith
The nature of Araragi/Shinobu relationship doesn't matter. Hitagi is ok with Shinobu no matter what. I think she is even ready to be cucked by Shinobu. But only by Shinobu because she is a part of Araragi. I mean their relationships are indeed flawed but why do you want them to be vanilla? It's stupid. She rides his dick and shares a bed with him but refuses to get into the car? Post the proofs. batffag.
Jordan Barnes
>Taking Shinobu away from Araragi is the same as killing him He's been separated from her several times and was fine. Acts more confidently than usual if anything.
I actually agree that he cares about Shinobu more but where did his whole >he'd sacrifice everything just to be with her meme come from? He acts contrary to that straight through to the climax of Ougi Dark, because it's observably more complicated than how people here are trying to summarise things

>He's been separated from her several times and was fine. Acts more confidently than usual if anything. here>meme It's not a meme, it's the truth. It's why he choose fighting Seishiro over anything else. Because he was batshit scared Shinobu would leave him for Sheishiro. Araragi can offer his life to anyone with the drop of a hat, but he refuses to live his life with her. How is that a meme? It's the simple truth.

He wants both both Gahara and Shinobu More than that he wants to be the justicefag human he's always wanted to be, but that's hard to balance with Shinobu (first book of Monster Season reiterates how at odds the two are with each other as far as outlook on humans and general life is concerned, but it's always been there) who he also won't let go of, increasingly so because as he gets older he's actually gotten good at the whole justicefag thing now

You need to know how to read, user.
"Now for the epilogue - or perhaps I should call it the conclusion of this case. Having thought of a way how both of us could move forward without having to distort ourselves and having made the first step on that journey of a thousand miles..."
"We were thinking the same all along. No, to be precise, I only planned on progress under conditions by working under the organization’s system, while Hitagi changed the system of the organization altogether, moving forward under her own conditions."
Araragi had already begun adjusting things to work abroad. Sure enough, we have cases of unreliable narration and relationships in the series are quite complicated and toxic. This doesn't mean people don't grow up or develop. After going through everything they have, Araragi and Senjougahara commited to each other and got over their problems. People focus too much on the amount of break ups they had, while forgetting that Araragi messed up really bad with Sodachi which caused the first break up, the second break up was a while after and because the relationship had been strained because of this, hence why Sodachi distanced herself. Afterwards, things were fine. The third break up wasn't a fight, but an inevitbility, so much so that they even supported each other in their carreers, even in suffering. The novel makes it quite clear how much they are serious for each other.
"Because no matter how ordinary it may be – I don’t want us to be looked at as a couple that separates and gets back together all the time. I had enough of dragged-out reconciliations."
Honestly, I kinda doubt we're gonna see anything past Musubi. As he always does, Nisio finished the series with a Crab end. Lets not forget that Araragi is more pragmatic and cynical in Musubi and that he is quite distant from most of the cast compared to his teenage years. He really was serious about it in the epilogue and he knows who he wants to keep.
Lincoln Mitchell
If forced to, he would choose Shinobu over Gahara at least. The Seishiro stuff is proof of that.
People mix that up with his view on the human/vampire thing, he absolutely does not want to live as a vampire.

Merits and demerits of the relationship and whether you like seeing it focused on aside, why are so many crabfags so insistent on Araragi being to blame for all of their relationship issues and breakups? Hitagi's disposition and insecurities account for half of their problems - at least.

>Kabuki Exactly what will happen even if they revive tadatsuru, tooe and her husband, and even add doll and cat and god form nadeko to the fray. And that is not even off guard, I am quite sure Gaen knew and Oshino as well except they trusted araragi to handle it well which went awry.

I dig it a lot, but I think I'm biased because I prefer reading about/watching Araragi's friendships way more than his "romances" with Shinobu/Gahara in general. I feel like Nisio enjoys writing about these fucked up friendships more too to be honest, the romance is almost always sidelined outside of a few specific arcs.
It's kind of like Araragi & Kanbaru's relationship except if they were both cynical teasing dipshits (while still being well-intentioned on both sides) to each other.
Alexander Morris
Is that the same chick from Shinobumonogatari? The one Koyomi said he treasured because she was the first friend he made through genuinely normal non-oddity related means for the first time in ages? Monster Season has way more minor background characters compared to before
Juan Morgan

See And even if it wasn't, she often way oversteps a reasonable level of concern, to the point of genuinely placing her insecurities over people's lives. And, ironically enough, Karen is one of the few people she doesn't get very jealous of, despite her essentially being her greatest rival in love.
And while in many other cases her insecurities would be reasonable in a normal relationship, theirs is decidedly not a normal relationship. Knowing who Araragi is - how he acts, what he's experienced, and what he prioritizes - she should also know that there are things she can't ask of him. And if those things are deal-breakers then the deal should simply be broken.
Owen Ortiz
Nisio went Zaregoto/Medaka with Monogatari with all those new characters.
Liam King
Why are you people even bickering? We all know that Bat > everyone else. We saw this already with Seishirou where Koyomi has to pick between helping Crab and Cat or staying to duel with her first minion, the latter which didn't need to happen at the moment from what I remember. It's always going to be Bat. She's his number one. No one is her equal. Those are the facts. So no, he doesn't love Crab just as much.
>she should also know that there are things she can't ask of him. And if those things are deal-breakers then the deal should simply be broken. Such as? Please don't think of fucking another girl except for me or do not be overly flirty with other girls because I am your girlfriend? Because if that's something that is a deal breaker then araragi is the one who fucks up the relationship more than hitagi. Araragi feels like he never left highschool and after being "popular" after a lifetime of introverted self it seems he just cant move on.
Owen Gonzalez
There are people here who think Kiss-shot killing Yozuru, Oshino and Kaiki is her winning when the end result is that Oshino is so Batman that he had a plan to get Shinobu to eat Kiss-shot due to planning for an alternate universe Araragi getting involved.
Of course, in a straight fight Kiss-shot would beat everyone but it's a win for humanity and Oshino when the end result is that Kiss-shot kills herself via Shinobu and every zombie goes back to normal. It's like arguing that Thor beat Jormungand because he killed him and then ignoring the fact that he died a few steps later from poison.

>Please don't think of fucking another girl except for me Aside from maybe Karen (and even that's about as likely as Gahara fucking her dad, as hard as Shaft tries to downplay that whole joke with her) who else does he fuck? Shinobu notwithstanding because she's a separate topic on her own
>or do not be overly flirty with other girls He intentionally has Kanbaru hang out with him and flirt with him (it's always initiated by her and not the other way around) on the expectation that Araragi tells her to fuck off and to insist on hanging out with her instead, despite Kanbaru herself having tons of issues that she's not completely unaware of. Only genuine case Gahara has is with Sodachi, though even there it's pretty clear who he actually favors over the two.
>Araragi feels like he never left highschool That's not true, most of the series is set during his highschool years and the few stories that feature him in college and above portray him to be markedly more mature (he's still a goofball in some respects but he's not going to do a total 180 in personality is he?)
Araragi definitely has plenty of flaws. The whole series is basically about his flaws being brought to light and criticized even. People here pretend that he's at fault for everything wrong in his relationships though which really is not true. Gahara and Shinobu (among others) don't get enough criticism for being total cunts if anything (also a lot of the Gahara hate is just sour grapes at her being the 'main girl' too and not legit criticism of her character)
Jaxson Sanchez
the scene from the cover happens at the end and and is basicly a cliff hanger

As I mentioned in the previous post, the only real fear of a sexual relationship (shelving anything related to Shinobu) is with Karen, who is largely exempt from Crab's jealousy for some reason. In any case, her wanting Araragi not to fuck anyone else is mostly reasonable - although we must also shelve some details, like her relationship with Hanekawa, in regards to that issue. Flirting is a different problem, given the different definitions people have for what constitutes flirting and where lines are drawn, which is in turn an issue, as she doesn't effectively communicate her boundaries, but this would still be reasonable if we once again shelve her part in it.
The problem, with all that established, is that she demands an assertion of priority. For instance Shinobu, Araragi's treasure, makes her uncomfortable. She also expects Araragi to choose her over others even outside of a romantic context, which is an unfair expectation. It's unfair to expect Araragi to look at all the people he cares about, even those other than Shinobu, and decide that their concerns are less important than Hitagi's without looking at the specifics. And it's further unfair to expect that his devotion to her gives her complete domination of his affection and concern. She's (debatably) the only one he loves romantically - but she's certainly not the only one he loves at all.
I've tried to trim this to only focus on her insecurities and expectations, but those issues are heavily related to other problems, so this isn't as clear-cut as I would have hoped.
Gavin Wilson

Are you me? This is essentially what I argue every thread. She's had a few stand out moments, but in the grand scheme of things she doesn't maintain a strong "impression". That is, her impact is felt in the moment, but her character is still weak. Individually she isn't especially compelling, dynamic, or complex. As a partner for Araragi she falls flat because she has nowhere near the chemistry with him that the other cast members do. And even in her best moments, past Nise at least, she delivers messages that could just as easily come form someone else. Her personality is irrelevant to most of her gestures and the strength comes entirely from what's being said, rather than who is saying it.
Dylan Davis

If nothing else I liked Araragi's way of solving the problem. What if he had died? What was her intention by throwing out the sword?

Maybe Meme and Kaiki can't go to a place without being invited there, kinda like a vampire that can't enter a house. Could be an explanation for Kaiki waiting a whole summer on a train station for Kanbaru to pass by instead of just going to her house/town. Wouldn't have much to do with the corpse's torso though
Carter Allen
Everything after Hana has bad animation, shitty outsourced quality and awful direction. It can't be helped.
I'm honestly just sick of Crab. I had other arguments, other reasons, and other things to say, but through it all I've exhausted myself and can now only say that I'm sick of her. I still don't hate her, and that would itself be antithetical to her boring me as she does. I'm simply sick of time being spent on such an empty character. I just don't like watching something and thinking "Yeah, I get it. That's nice and all, but can we get back to people we care about?". Araragi clearly cares about her, that's nice, but I don't care about him caring about her.
Connor Wilson
I don't know if I want to picture that. Karen is taller than Kissshot in Musubimonogatari, she is gonna manhandle Araragi.

She's also competitive, so they probably just take turns that's basically what the end of the toothbrush scene implied too

>Karen also is a bit of a flat character In what respect? She's certainly on the less complex end, but there are other important aspects for a character and flat has a very negative connotation. I think she has a lot of charisma is a ton of fun - traits that are just as important for endearing a character. She's also very compelling despite her (relative) lack of depth. In any case I agree wholeheartedly that that aspect is above and beyond. There's this perfect mix of a genuine emotional connection and completely shameless sexual presentation.
That's an oversimplification. What bothers me is that all of her scenes consist of emotional payoff for tension that was never built. I'm sick of having the narrative act as though this character is important and making a big deal out of her when we never spend time with her to build up to that catharsis. I would be happy if we spent less time with the offending scenes, but I would also be happy if more time was devoted to making those scenes less offensive - or else if the scenes were generally replaced with better ones.
This is a good way of phrasing the issue. It doesn't cover all of what bothers me, but it definitely feels like a part of it is her ostensibly "taking credit". I generally like to say it's that she has a bunch of importance placed on her that doesn't belong - and that she didn't earn.
Charles Peterson

Crab is shit. That is all.
Tyler Parker
Eh, Araragi's relationship with Cat says that this isn't necessarily the case, he is all over the place. He loves her but is too scared to honestly go for it, he is envious of her and wants to one up her, and he has an almost fetish for being guided by her, like a man to his goddess. Same can be said for everyone else, Ougi proved his feelings for everyone is messed up.
Pretty much this. Hanekawa is sideways glancing him whenever he tries to sweet talk her even after that emotional rejection, she knows where his heart lies and how he wants to have the cake and eat it too. It's why she watches over him, but smacks his hand when he tries to smooze on her. Hitagi still seems to hold on that she has his heart at the end of the day, but the truth is that he is entirely fickle.
If that's true she is evolving or something and Nisio is hiding it until he is ready for the impact it creates.
Kayden Sanchez
>If that's true she is evolving or something and Nisio is hiding it until he is ready for the impact it creates. This novel takes place before Musubi, where it's revealed Cat has made quite the name and life for herself.
Parker Bell
>It's why she watches over him, but smacks his hand when he tries to smooze on her. The further the series goes the more it's clear that Hanekawa doesn't actually understand Araragi as well as she thinks she does though. Pretty much everything Ougi says about her makes it clear (not to mention Araragi's own admittance to himself in the ending scene of Ougi Dark where he's talking to Hanekawa on his way to the school), she's entirely unaware of it. You get more and more scenes like the bit in Sodachi Lost where she genuinely is mistaken about Araragi's intentions when Hanekawa says that if he took her with him to meet Sodachi over Ougi he'd let her grope her (she gets mad at him for being so juvenile, yet Araragi's reasoning was actually just that for Hanekawa to suggest that in the first place at all she had to be serious about her having to go instead of Ougi)
Well it's kind of hard to summarise and doesn't end there because this particular relationship is convoluted as fuck compared to all the others, but there's way more to it than the usual "Araragi's at fault for everything" schtick Yea Forums loves to default to. Especially in relation to Gahara it just falls flat completely, since she's stated to spend more time with Hanekawa than Araragi does from Nise onwards, I think it was in Nise where it was mentioned that Gahara & Hanekawa go on frequent outings together and refuse to tell Araragi what they do together?
Joshua Ward
Crab also says that if she & Koyomi ever have kids at least one of them will be named after Cat, Crab's pretty open about how in-love with her she is, contrary to Koyomi where it looks less like love the longer the story goes. Cat should just take the stick out of her ass and agree to a threesome already.
Ian Garcia
>refuse to tell Araragi what they do together? Neither are gay or bi, especially Hanekawa, so it doesn't matter. Hitagi may act a certain way with her, but she'll never cross a line like kiss her. Honestly Hitagi probably told Hanekawa not to tell him what they do on their outings so that he can get a bit jealous or imagine lewd scenarios thus giving us readers more fanservice. Sometimes I feel like Nisio should just them one OT3 cause they all get on so well, even with one out of the picture.
Jonathan Moore
Lmao, how so?
Jackson Perry
>less like love Isn't the manmade shrine he made out of some of her belongings (including hair) still intact in Musubi?
Luke Miller
He can never fuck best girl because he is actually the best girl, essentially eternally being cucked by his own existence
I meant romantic love, should've specified that. Not denying that he has some weird cult-tier view of her but it's not the type of love that user was talking about.

Hitagi has already made out with Hanekawa in front of Araragi, it happens after Tsubasa Tiger timelinewise, as vengeance for him kissing the lolis. Hanekawa probably loves them both romantically, but she is dead set to only have her chosen partner for herself, so she won't do it. She doesn't score the highest out of Nisio's characters ethically for nothing.
