Haven't watched it but according to Adachi's formula it's whichever sibling has it together more. The rougher, ruder, not as scholastically inclined sibling survives and that's part of their "arc". They try and live up to their "better sibling's" potential etc. etc.

It's even more distracting when you go from series to series. I like his writing so I just flow it it and read his manga as though all the main love interests, male and female, are just the same persons reincarnated into different lifetimes/dimensions/stories. Easier that way and makes for better reading.

Cross Game. I read and enjoyed Touch but Cross Game was a slightly better story with almost all of the filler removed. It was like a touch 2.0. I think Cross Game was his peak. It's one of the best paced Manga (and anime which is functionally a 1:1 adaptation) I've read. Makes me miss the days of 24-50 episode self contained story series.
I also really like Adachi's 4th wall breaking humor (that doesn't feature in the Anime) - it's a small thing but it's there. He also has the *perfect* amount of crudeness/rudeness that doesn't shy away from some of the rougher parts of healthy humanity (sexuality, sexual dimorphism, adolescence) all without being some degenerate pervert.
