Before Rebellion, "the Law of Cycles" was just a name for what Madoka does.
After Rebellion, the LoC has been removed from Madoka and exists as a separate autonomous entity. However the exact status of that entity isn't completely clear - we don't actually know whether it's still working in the same way it used to.

Eh, I wouldn't say I got largely ignored. It seems like the fancut gets recommended more or less whenever someone's wondering if the recap movies are worth watching, I see screenshots from both v1 and v2 in Madoka threads on a semi-regular basis, and people are still downloading the torrents. This is more than I was expecting, and pretty much the most I was hoping for. It would be pretty contrived for people to talk about the project unless it comes up naturally, and it rarely does now that it's finished.

Reddit, on the other hand, deleted my thread when I tried to shill it there because apparently just saying that it's up on Nyaa — not even linking to it — was "providing instructions to illegally download files" or some other bs. Fuck Reddit.
