Make a remake of Adventure 01 that isn't a stock footage-filled slideshow, cuts down on the Digimon of the week episodes and lets all of the Digimon have their mega forms before the end. A 02 remake that knows what it wants to do and gives Dagomon, Daemon and Oikawa separate arcs in the second half while cutting the Arukenimon and Myotismon shit has potential too.

Episode 21 was directed in a whole by Hosoda, a guy that worked in Utena. The whole episode feels ttally different from the rest of the anime, it's like it's not a kodomo anime anymore. It's a weird episode full of symbolism, but a really good one.

Make a cool and comfy adventure show about kids/teens who have no idea what's going on exploring the digital world, but with the darker themes and more mature tone of Tamers. Have a strong overarching adventure plot but with more individual shorter arcs about the events they encounter on their journey, don't be afraid to not pull a couple punches when the story needs it but don't go full suffering. Make the digimon actual characters with personalities and their own motivations but don't focus too hard on interpersonal conflicts at the expense of the main plot. Keep the main plot fairly reasonable in scope. Overall the focus should be on the digital world and the creatures in it and how the main characters deal with that, not relationship drama or the end of the world, at least for the first season.
Give it enough budget to look good when it needs to, but scenery and characters are more important than action sequences. Not every episode needs a big expensive fight scene.
Basically set out with the goal of making a good anime, not shilling the latest ridiculous hyper-giga-corrupted-digivolutionIII forms or whatever.

Frontier was the tokusatsu of Digimon taking ques from Sentai series and Kamen Rider.

Xros Wars was the one with some mecha elements along with some tokusatsu. It really found it's home on /m/ than Yea Forums when airing as Adventurefags hated Digimon being more than over glorified pets instead of actual characters.

That was because it became the Takuya and Kouji show and they jobbed ever encounter. Funny that the RK's lost two of their members because Lucemon had Dynasmon and Utskushi forcefully submit to him by infecting them with some of it's data.

It had lots of problems but it was enjoyable nonetheless

I liked it. Sure it had some glaring flaws, like the aforementioned RK arc and how it became the Takuya and Koji Show™ with special guests appearances from those other guys, but it was still overall enjoyable. The battle with Mercurymon and Lucemon were some of my favorites. Also Ranamon is best girl and none can deny that fact
