Are you me? That was really great. That entire conversation. If Guts had kept on the way he'd been going, there was going to be nothing left of him. He wouldn't even have made it back without Puck, but it took Godot to tell Guts there are reasons for him to go on besides fighting to forget and to die.

That was such a good chapter, and a major turning point for Guts as a character.

Honestly the big problem is the timing for starting the Griffith chapters we waited so long for their reunion and then they switched. Like with the boat arc. No one would get mad if the pacing was normal. If we had a chapter every month or 2 weeks no one would have complained like now. Miura really needs to put some effort in the release schedule in 10 years or so he will be 60 and I don't see him finish it at that point. If he goes on another hiatus he doesn't care about us or his masterpiece

However, it is true that the first serious duel with Griffith is approaching. As for the overall progress of the series, on the other hand.... It is heading towards its end, that's for sure. But if I say that there is still a fifth or a quarter to draw, this estimate may be lower than the reality. So I'd rather not go forward.

He certainly is. Right off, Guts would be dead. If he hadn't met Puck he'd have succeeded in killing himself out of grief. And the entire scene where Guts breaks down and laughs and calls Puck by his name is one of the sweetest scenes in the whole manga bar none.

Puck did a LOT to bring Guts back from the brink of self destruction in more ways than one. He tried so hard to become Guts' friend.

Plus the prototype chapter reflected their would-be relationship perfectly.

Guts has always had his share of charisma, plus he cuts a pretty gallant/dangerous figure crushing monsters and protecting his invalid girlfriend. Makes sense to me that Farnese and Schierke would find him attractive. It only plays up his fierce loyalty to Casca anyhow.

they're both good. The reason i've watched it so many times is because what to creators were able to do with very low resources. The entire show looks like a slideshow with a couple of animated scenes sprinkled in between but they make it work. Especially with the stills and the soundtrack it's hard not to get sucked in.

But it wouldn't just be that. The whole point of Guts power is about pushing himself to the absolute limit over and over again. Apostle's claims he's impossibly durable and strong because they've never seen anything like it, because he is supposed to be the peak of what humans can achieve. Through hard work and determination bordering on insanity. Boiling it down to "He's stronk just because" is just moronic.

Swinging a sword bigger than you since six would build muscles, it would not allow you to swing a sword hundreds of times heavier than a normal persons', hundred of times faster than them.

Even Serpico had to fight Guts with the pillars because despite him using a giant ass sword vs a rapier, his giant ass sword is swung just as fast.

You have people like Big Dick Bazuso. Literally multiple times larger than a normal person, or the brother of the retard General. These massive hulks of a man, and they are still considered within human bounds. Guts' feats themselves are impossible by human measures.

No. But they definitely have an advantage on their size. Bazuso and Samson both stand at about a head taller than Guts, who stands at least a head taller than your average person at over 2m. They are freaks of nature, virtually unique. In real life you can pretty much count the number of proportionate people without debilitating deformities at that height on your hands.

But saying that because they're so big then Guts is no exception is missing the point. They were never implied to push themselves to the extreme that Guts has, and understandably so since they had virtually no reason to do so.

So are Guts feats impossible in by real life logic? Based on what we know, obviously. But the manga isn't real life, and the limits of human capability will always be stretched to some degree, and Guts stands at the top of human achievement within that stretch. Sure others could reach it, and uniquely exceptional people could possibly even surpass it given Guts circumstances. But they haven't.

It's a cop out to say, "It's a manga so they don't have limits and there aren't any rules! Anyone in Berserk could be as strong as Guts if they just tried as hard!"

We are told, explicitly, through in-page dialogue, "No human is capable of wielding that sword." "No human should be able to move with those injuries."

When you have Samson flinging around a giant mace the size of Guts and everyone takes that as rational, realistic, and understandable, but then state that Guts' own strength and endurance are supernatural; It's in-universe power scaling explanations.

What we are told about what is humanly possibly isn't told to us by an omnipotent narrator, it doesn't hold up as an absolute truth.

And do you honestly think people didn't see Samson as an absolute monster and a freak of nature? But as long as he's on your side you don't question it, you just fucking cheer. I found it pretty easy, and now I finally understand the reluctance people have with spoonfeeding you people.

The issue is that despite not being one of these gorilla men, Guts far exceeded their strength FAR before he reached the levels of absurdity he had now.

When Guts faced off against Bazuso, his sword was reasonable. They laughed at him because he was a child, and there's no way a child could swing that big sword around. Not that the sword itself was unfeasible. He also got lucky and no one argued that what he did was godly.

When you start deflecting a giant mace the size of your entire torso while injured and then proceed to 1v100 a group of trained soldiers only to be not even that close to death at the end, it starts to get a bit more crazy.

And now it brings us to the Black Swordsman. His sword is so ridiculously massive it is quite literally impossible, physically, to swing it around, let alone lift it for your average person. But here you have Guts, who can not only hold it in one hand, but can swing it with one hand faster than just about any swordsman he's come across.

Even considering power scaling, his level of strength grows absurdly fast. Things that were already amazing people are now childish feats in the eyes of Guts swinging a sword that weighs more than himself around at a speed that (By the Zodd fight) is so fast normal humans can't even fucking see the weapon.
