Low turnout rates for events are probably due to the increase of otaku and NEETs not wanting to interact with society. And then lower BD sales is due to both the NEETs not having any money and the prices of the BDs being so high.
Plus, there are 60+ anime per season these days, which is insane, but also spreads out fans and talent. They really need to cut that down by a bit, I feel. Just seems so unnecessary.

I think there is no other setting that makes me feel so lowkey happy and calm as space stuff in which every normalfag can own a ship. The thought of endless exploration, meeting tons of aliens and alien cultures and living in such a colored world including all the great things and wonders hightech provides you.
Even if shit would happen and you would get depressed you could try to forget that crap ad set sail for a complete different start on another planet, and then the tons of different planets in the first place with their own characteristics and everything. This shit soothes my soul but it also makes me sad because I know we will never be able to enjoy these things and humanity's evolution is so fucking slow that it will take another 1000 years or something till our world looks just slightly as it did in our daydreams when we're thinking about the year 2020 as little kids.
At least I can forget this misery for a while, while I am playing space opera games or watching series like this, Space Dandy and the likes.

The boom is kinda dead in general, even most scifi movies don't feel like scifi these days and the futuristic parts are more of a backdrop rather than an integral part of the setting and story.
Somehow humanity became more interested in mundane things since the rise of social media and the likes. I miss the times when there were tons of books released about space operas, political techo-dystopias and actual cyber punk. Not the modern cyber punk in which the cyber part only serves as an aesthetic and the punk part is missing completely.

Like, people use crowdsourced garbage dump maps on their mobile devices to pilfer those dumps for food. You can have a camera see you on the street and milliseconds later a neural net will have identified you. There is also Sarazanmai. I think comedy shows just get less turnout in general. A show like Sarazanmai, directed by Ikuhara, already guarantees speculation and the story still requires people taking it seriously, even if it has light hearted elements. Someone mentioned Double Decker not being as popular as Tiger and Bunny, and it's likely due to the fact that people just get more invested in shows where the characters have emotional moments to keep them interested over just pure comedy.

I agree; unfortunately comedy shows aren't noticed much; in DD!'s case people were waiting for Tiger and Bunny's 2nd season so a spin-off didn't get the attention it deserved as a light-hearted comedy since the audience was expecting something closer to a character drama like T&B was.
RobiHachi is fun but no one will realize that if they write it off without even trying an episode; people just not trying it out is probably contributing to the lack of buzz instead of any flaws the show might have. Like you said, Sarazanmai had Ikuhara's name to help it get the vital first episode audience and it helps that Sarazanmai is a good show; RobiHachi has Takamatsu but people just aren't checking it out much.

I have no idea. I don't get how the brain of these writers work though. I know someone who wrote an own story he wants to publish on the web too, he doesn't even watch isekai and complains about many anime being uncreative as shit and yet, his story is about a fat weeabo getting isekai'ed into a fantasy world with modern elements and tons of anime pander stuff. I don't get it but I guess many people just work that way. Or maybe they're just running after cheap popularity. They know the same fanbase that watched all the other generic isekai will check the new isekai too so it might just be the cheapiest possible try to get popular.
I still don't really get it thoug, because as web artist or writer you are free to do whatever you want. So I would rather do something I actually want even if it means that I will only get a small fanbase, but at least it would be a dedicated one that likes what I like.

Well that's actually what I did, but he got butthurt. And if I would send that link he would probably block me for the title alone.
One of his main characters is one of these walking encyclopedias for example, and that guy is destroying the series alone if the rest wouldn't do. One thing isekai should, theoretically, be good for is some sense of exploration since the MC is meeting new races and magical objects he didn't know before. But this MC's isekai friend just comments on everything and explains it before the MC even has a chance to wonder about anything. I tried telling him that show-don't-tell rule and that the MC should have his time to learn about things himself, but the friend is some sort of selfinsert for him (he told me that directly) and he wants him to be relevant and to be the father figure that explains stuff. Whatever. Again, I think some people just have to learn things themselves, be it fictional characters or their authors.

It's really simple. Sci Fi and space settings require actual research and significant thought put into the setting in order to make it both interesting and believable. Only THEN can you start working on your characters and plot.
On the other hand, Dragon Quest Fantasy Setting (tm) requires approximately 5 seconds of thought to put something together. The world is simple, how the characters interact with it is simple, it basically doesn't exist.
The vast majority of Isekai are written by amateur (often teenage or NEET) authors on syosetu with no professional experience or training. They just throw shit at the wall until something sticks and gets popular. Ever see an isekai that starts with an interesting premise and devolves into the same shit? This is why.

It's also that actual scifi need a bit more mechanical or logical explanation for things to happen. The explanation doesn't need to be some hard scifi techno brabble but it can't come out of nowhere as much as magic does in fantasy settings. There you don't even have to think up why some crown or something defeats the divine enemy, just saying that it does because it's some holy relic or some shit is enough. If you want to defeat some space Cthulhu in scifi you have to come up with something to explain why a certain object can kill him while typical cannons and lasers couldn't and said thing can't be anything like a crown or so, it would have to be some sort of weapon and it has to be different than lasers otherwise lasers would have shown hints of some impact and so on.
Not to mention that you have a different audience who usually has less bullshit tolerance than a pure fantasy fan watching fantasy.

Tōkaidōchū Hizakurige (東海道中膝栗毛), abbreviated as Hizakurige and known in translation as Shank's Mare, is a comic picaresque novel (kokkeibon) written by Jippensha Ikku (十返舎一九, 1765–1831) about the misadventures of two travelers on the Tōkaidō, the main road between Kyoto and Edo during the Edo period. The book was published in twelve parts between 1802 and 1822.
The two main characters, traveling from Edo to Kyoto on their pilgrimage to Ise Grand Shrine, are called Yajirobē (彌次郎兵衛) and Kitahachi (喜多八). Hizakurige is comic novel that also provides information and anecdotes regarding various regions along the Tōkaidō. Tourism was booming during the Edo Period, when this was written. This work is one of many guidebooks that proliferated, to whet the public's appetite for sight-seeing.
A second book was also written, called Zoku Hizakurige, which includes material on the Kiso Valley, Konpira, and Miyajima.
Some of the episodes from this novel have been illustrated by famous ukiyo-e artists, such as Hiroshige in his One Hundred Views of Edo.

They didn't, sorry I worded oddly. 下 can also be taken as 従subordinate, 上 can also be taken as 正 chief/senior/leader. Hachi was upset saying "why do I have to be on the lower half?" not just because he was in the bottom but because Robi was looking like the leader. In the second episode Robi was mocking him because of that also, because he looks like a subordinate/a follower/junior. No need to be a great mastermind. The words to use in the sexual context, even for puns, is different.

It isn't 'all original' after all, it is a re-imagination styled adaptation of a way older work; maybe this anime will survive the early slump in audience attention.
Anons are probably saying that it is a top/bottom joke not because of the nip wordplay, but the dynamics as a joke itself; Tiger and Bunny had a similar one where Tiger was complaining about being the one in the side car of their combined 'double chaser' bike instead of being allowed to drive and Barnaby telling him that it suits him (turned out he was actually complimenting on how good Tiger looked there in the new suit instead of being snarky in his internal monologue.)
