I prefer a good mix of comedy and romance. School Rumble is still the best anime ever. I'd love to have something similar but with a more mature setting.

Comedy is subjective so this question is somewhat flawed.
There are different genres of comedy even among anime. Excel saga, nichijou and cromartie are more absurdist where as gochiusa, kinmoza and lucky star are situational comedy.

ya the worst part about the genre.... Sometimes they get it right but it will usually shock me when something genuinely funny happens or funny dialogue is heard. I remember when I read that english translation of Misato's postcard to Shinji it nearly had me in tears.

My favorite comedy shows are a fucking shoujo made by pierrot and a 4koma by JC-Staff, funny huh?

School rumble, nichibros and nichijou comes to my mind.

I wasn't the biggest fan of School rumble but the ending song was catchy.

This, I hate harem stuff.

I enjoy stuff like grand blue, nichibros , baka and test , school rumble and urusei yatsura. Though humor is subjective. 3 episodes in Tylor too and it's quite funny
