A lot of contrarians hate on things simply because they are popular. Rightfully so considering most popular things are garbage.

At 43 seconds in you see the foreshadowing of subaru's character arc and his flaws represented very subtly. He smirks when Rem turns around and screams his name because he's trying to look cool and he is delighted by the fact that he's manipulating the people around him.
This show truly is a masterpiece of writing that takes a 200 iq to really appreciate.
