I don't feel that should be treated as strange. I recall it being pretty well loved here throughout.
Hopefully this can get near the level of Anima as that got better as it went along. Doubt we'll see animation quality anyway near it though.

It's pretty much the epitome of low-budget seasonal trash. I'm only watching if for the designs as well as this vague nostalgic feel. There's also a faint promise of yuri, which I now take more seriously ever since Akanesasu.

There's a bit of truth to that statement, but that doesn't make his works bad at all, especially if you like spokon in general.
If you like MIX, you should definitely check out Touch. aside from being a "prequel" to Mix, it's also a really good manga, and the anime adaptation is fantastic. If you'd like to go for a shorter series, Cross Game is also great.

I think MAL users tend to be slightly biased against mobile game adaptations. It doesn't help that most would probably compare it with other baseball anime with girls like Taisho Baseball Girls.

To avoid spoiling too much,there're none, but there's going to be some drama down the line. It will take a while for the anime to adapt it though.
