What's Mario doing there?

Absolutely based and should be brought back

Nah,rather than mario, that guy looks like what youwould get if you fused Benito Mussolini and Hitler's DNA together.

Astro boy was, and still is, the only anime to ever making me competitive swim.

Lame but still somehow more cinematic and respectable than western cartoons.
I was really enjoying how that style evolved all the way untill the 2000s were otakus flooded the industry and fucked everything up.

Terrible

You tell me.

I've always liked Tezuka's Fleischer/Ub Iwerks influenced style

Heh. I remember watching this on our B&W TV back in the 60s. Apparently it was the first anime dubbed into English.

Man, why did Rock grow up to he such a cunt?

They're fine, but the examples posted in this thread (Tezuka & Yokoyama) so far are more of a slight development of designs that had mostly developed in the 50s. Character designs in the late 60s/70s are a lot more varied than I think people give credit for.

>our B&W TV back in the 60s
nice

Keep crying, loser

A lot of late 60s designs just aped Tezuka, though
and as for 70s designs, I'd say Nagai defined that era

/int/: the character

This is an accurate depiction of the Greek ego

I like Ishinomori's designs a lot.

Greeks are regularly called turk rapebabies on /int/ though

I think he meant the turk with the german flag who says
>I am a greek

>implying that's not what Mario is
>implying Tojo didn't splice their genetics to create a perfect Axis son
>implying Nintendo wasn't hired to make his name and likeness known worldwide in preparation for his domination of the Earth

I love them!

There's more variety and personality than today's cookie-cutter designs. You're lucky to get a character with a fucking nose or without the typical pop idol bieber hairstyle nowadays.

A lot of those characters look like Nobita and Shizuka clones

They predate Doraemon though

It's nice there are some shows ij the past few years that are based in old franchises that try to maintain the old school style while being modern. Like Osomatsu-san.

They're often very good. I really like the diversity of styles that existed then.

Tezuka...

Nah, there was actually a shitload going on in the seventies. Claiming that nagai defined the decade in spite of the minimum of 15 new shows a year, usually with teams of hundreds of individual artists, is dumb.

This is literally me

The queen of the 70s.

Oh tezuka.

The girl is actually pretty nice, too bad about all the furry shit.

they can kind kind of samey, but that's charming in a way. The more simplistic cartoony styles are more approachable.

No see it's ok they're just GAGS it's a funny joke just for laughs you see haha

I like them even when they kid of suck
