I mean, I have little faith otherwise. People will probably try to point out how they're literally married and he's committed to his one true waifu, but it's not like that's prevented other harem romcoms from being harem romcoms.

If your one hope is "maybe this time will be different," you should really know better by now. It's a common affliction with these types of stories. Once the initial set up runs its course a bit, the story almost naturally demands new characters to mix things up. Being the kind of wish fulfillment story they are, this further leads to introducing more girl characters, who then gravitate towards the sole male MC. This story I suppose is a bit different from the usual as the MC has a male friend with a waifu toy of his own. But that's not terribly unusual either. I don't know why these stories don't just introduce new, bland self inserts for each girl, but I suppose that would almost naturally itself defuse the conflict that the new girls were introduced to cause in the first place. It's still never any good.

Time will tell, but don't get too excited.
