BNHA is really suffering from the setting being too ambitious. Think about it, it's modern day setting but in the future and quirks being around for a while already. The geo-political state of the world should be more complex then ever before, with quirks affecting the state politics, balance of power and culture on a deep level. Meanwhile it's just a modern day japan with some plot convenient locations and organizations. It's really hard to buy this. If Hori doesn't want to focus on worldbuilding that much he should've went the way of most shounens and invent his own world from scratch that would be perfect for the kind of story he wants to tell.
Why not place the action in a country like japan but make every country in the world be under tight lockdown to prevent dangerous quirk users from traveling.Think about it, there are literal god-like quirk users, wouldn't governments want to tightly control that. Can't there be a quirk user that can use internet and phone to harm people or travel everywhere? The quirks being this common would cause a mass paranoia and a tight lock down of most smart countries. This could also make the rest of the world just an uknown due to communication breakdown so the lack of weapons and the fact that villains don't migrate where there isn't an All-might and security is shittier, would suddenly make sense.

The worldbuilding in bnha is UTTER SHIT that's being made up as it goes along which makes these new groups of villains feel like filler as they seem to pop out of nowhere into sudden relevancy because of how little we know about the world AND HOW LITTLE THEY MATTERED before.
We don't even know how hero society was formed exactly. All we know is apparently there were too many people running around who used their newly found powers to do bad things so some other people stepped up and took matters into their hands. Then TA - DA!! that's how hero society came into being like wtf?? There's way too many things skipped there for the series to act like this is some sort of logical progression of things, very POOR EXECUTION in worldbuilding.
It doesn't even make sense because if you're saying that the situation was solved as a result of people taking matters into their hands instead of relying on the gov't then hero society is like the EXACT opposite of that. So how the fuck does that work and how the fuck can they even enforce the "you can't use your quirk" thing or even know what exact quirk people have if they just lie about it?

I've experienced a sort of burnout when it comes to these threads.
Truly good discussion can happen here, and I love nothing more than to talk about theories, quirks and designs with others. However I've been so sick of seeing the same posts over and over recently that I took a break from posting, even if I am enjoying the current arc immensely.
I've been lurking though, and I must say, I love that the current arc seems to have ushered in some semblance of political discussion. I feel like it was an element of the manga that was previously lacking.

Last night, I had a dream that the Yakuza arc would be pushed back to season 5, and season 4 in its entirety would be a filler arc about Kouda, and the villain was a weird Noumu thing that invades the school and just walks slowly towards people and when it manages to touch someone, they get stuck to it and it slowly absorbs them. It also absorbs all attacks, including fire and lightning.
I woke up before it was defeated, so I have no idea how Kouda was going to stop it.

There are pockets of decency still in the site (a few secluded threads, a board or two, 3 year old games on /vg/ which are still almost entirely gameplay discussion); it's just that the places are heavily self moderated and the posters make newfags follow by example. If you want to see more detailed posts, the only person you can force to do that yourself is (You). If you want more OC and edits in a thread, the same applies.
Nihilism won't get anyone anywhere; dealing with the issue that causes the nihilism is the more apt solution-besides; lets go through some 'names' from the top of my head;

People often fall prey to the loud majority, but when considering things on a larger scale you realise the problem is a lot more manageable than anticipated. Going by anecdotal evidence, I can lurk for days at a time before making a post as everyone should, going by my own metric there should be a lot of fucking lurkers

I don't think he's even close to any of those. He has a wide range but almost any mobility hardcounters his quirk and any attacks he can do with it that are not mobilitycountered CC is random in nature and depend on his envirionment. Juzo is closer to a bit more competent Kaminari. His quirk has a strong effect but that effect is less useful than something like Dark Shadow.

Bakugo's strength isn't related much to his quirk though, it's hard to see him failing to a weaker quirk given his autism. He's like a more talented Tin-Tin but without the humility and social skills (teamwork) and thus has conditions in order to grow unlike Tin-Tin and Deku who despite being untalented with their quirks steadily and surely keep growing under guidance whereas it doesn't really matter who teaches Bakugou unless he finds rivals to knock his ass down a few pegs.

Softening, Hellfire, Whirlwind and especially Compress are all incredibly simple quirks on paper, but all of them have massive power ceilings because the only real limit to their use is the users imagination

That doesn't mean much, he lacks shonen spirit like Deku/Bakugou does. Him and Setsuna will always be Kendou tier at best, if not Momo tier. Their recommendations came from criteria based on heroes during the era where All Might was still towering over all villains and heroes could be considered a luxury status job like being a Hollywood star, not the current situation where heroes are desperately trying to fill in the void left by All Might and having all these villains coming out of the wood works.
They wouldn't fail but it's doubtful if these kids could get a recommendation again if they were one year younger, simply because the criteria would be vastly different. It's no longer peace time, you can't hope to aspire to be the next Wash.

Shiggy is the worst part of the League, Characters like Twice or Kurogiri and now a bit with Spinner have a clear motivation that's unique to them, but all of Shiggy's motivation boils down to AfO manipulating both events and him to fuck with his brother's force ghost. I like most of the LoV better than Shiggy but I'm not bothered by his character. His motivation is weak but it makes sense. Being a groomed school shooter is more realistic than the typical capeshit villains who try to take over the world or something. They take normal citizens, train them to standardization and obedience to higher authority and procedure, give them a share of the power and authority of the state, and use them to enforce the status quo.
