You can tell a good bit of research went into it with references, words and local things, but there's some mistakes and nonsense portuguese here and there that make you laff.
Ultimately it's a fantasyland heavily inspired by the country and it's better that way. It's a good entertaining show, the end is a bit depressing considering their journey. Check it out.

The last time was in Birdy the Mighty Decode, and that was where soldiers from my country were being slaughtered. The only americans in there. In the sense they were fighting aliens and losing and that aliens hated humans because they looked like their hated other-xenos (and that japanese were grouped in with americans in that sense) it was okay-ish

We get a ton of representation, but ultimately no, Japan doesn't get us at all. We are seen through an outdated and romanticised lens, this country has lost most of the charm and has tons of problems that get never addressed.

The U.K. gets a decent amount of showing in anime, off the top of my head LWA is set there, so is The Ancient Magus' Bride, and it gets regularly vists from other series, such as Fate, one episode of Ghost in the Shell and so on. That's not even including the K-On! Movie, Black Butler and the mascot for Japan-British relations, Kujou, Karen.
In terms of it being represented WELL, there are a few translation things that don't go over very well. I remember in the GitS episode, they mangled the phrase 'The proof is in the pudding' into 'the proof is in the wine', and typically when an anime is set in the U.K. it's for a hogwarts style thing, and is more a fantasy archetype then an actual exploration of the country. Which is understandable, because that's what sells. British characters in anime also tend to be pretty stereotypical, tea-drinking members of the upper crust. But generally this is how the U.K. is portrayed in international media anyway, so in this way anime doesn't really deviate from it. Overall I'd say its pretty decent representation for a big European country like the U.K., and it's always fun to see what the nips think we get up to over here.
