I wouldn't say "learned" he just has to cram everything into what few episodes he's got. He still makes it work, but a lot of his commentary doesn't have quite as versatile a language as Utena did. Utena had the benefit of multiple arcs to both introduce new ideas and revisit old ones in new ways or in the context of newer developments. Penguindrum sorta did it toward the end, but YKA was pretty straight forward in how it built its message. I know it's not like he'll be getting another 52e contract ever again, but this one in particular still feels really hand holdy. He even walked us through false non sequitur sequence in the same episode he presented it. This just kinda felt like an Ikuhara 101. Which, to be fair, I guess it doesn't hurt to have, but you'd think with his reputation people would know what they're getting into by now.

One of the ways I enjoy anime, as opposed to other forms of media is because of the visuals. I take screenshots for a variety of reasons, but at a minimum it's just because I enjoyed what I saw and I might want to remind myself of it later. I can usually judge how much I liked the visuals of an anime by how many screenshots I took while watching it.

The story of this show has a lot going for it, and I am perfectly able to watch an anime for the plot alone, but if this particular anime becomes repetitive or obviously formulaic in a future episode, good visuals can help me power through filler episodes. The apparent monster-of-the-week formula of the first episode isn't really a good sign, IMO, but I will give it at least three episodes before deciding.
