I dropped it when Eren got captured and he was about to get injected with some drug but then his friends came and saved it. The manga wasn't really something special and it was pretty predictable. I do keep hearing good things about it and its on my backlog but the fact that the SnK threads are only about shipping and fujowars, doesn't make me want to start reading it again.

I'm reading it. It has improved monumentally post-timeskip but it's still small time compared to the current arc of HxH. In HxH we have a succession war taking place on a single ship that has more factions, allegiances, and subterfuge than the entire international Paradis vs Marley conflict.
