It must be frustrating if you're looking for a specific UR. Overall however, it's quite easy to get the girl you want, and the game relies far more on skill than on your girls so you won't get stonewalled due to not having the right character. There are also a tonne of freebies. I'm speaking more from personal experience rather than looking at the drop rates. I've enjoyed playing LLSIF and have 2 dozen URs or so (I got my favourite idols fairly easily and they're maxed out at this point) and the rythm game itself is very fun, and like I said I never got stonewalled. On the contrary, I could feel myself improving. With F/GO, I got stuck with, for the most part, literally who shitters (at least I got shota gil) and had to rely on spending SQ and using Supports to get through those atrocious repetitive levels. Uninstalled after a month, went through withdrawal for a couple of days and then never looked back.

You might just be shit at this game. The one redeeming bit about FGO is that a lot of the literally whos (assuming you mean those non golds) are ridiculously good. It's part of why they can get away with the otherwise atrocious rates for the golds.

Because what's the point? Gacha IS the attraction. Like I said, the gameplay is fucking dreadful. Think of it like a casino where you can't walk out and waste your money. You can play the games. You're going to lose most of the time but you might just get lucky some day and that keeps you going. That in itself is fun. Or you can rig all the machines. You'll be swimming in those fake coins that they give you and have nothing but time on your hand. The sprites and voicelines are already available online however. If you're in it just for them then you don't need to do anything.

I think one of the appeals of FGO is that it doesn't have PVP or rankings, so you don't need to roll for the meta servants if you want to keep up with the turbowhales. Lots of other mobages, including Starlight from what I heard, are awful in that aspect, and it probably turns away a lot of people knowing that once they hit a paywall there is no way around it.

Dunno. I mostly relied on Antoinette, shota gil and that dragon bitch. I'd also use that Japanese girl with a knife (not shiki the other one) and Caster Cu if I needed a specific class counter. That said, the supports were the most useful and I did breeze through most of the stages and only trip up at the bosses where I'd have to use a command spell or SQ to revive my party. But that aside, I'm not in it for the gameplay, I'm in it for the girls. Shota Gil was the only cute character I had after a month and that's not OK.

A few of them. I got through the first 4 singularities before quitting. I think I used SQ to revive only once per singularity at most. Most of the furstration came from the fact that my party would usually die and the support would finish the job. How much did that cost me? A couple of rolls? It doesn't change the fact that I didn't get a single 4 star for the entire month, and I would keep getting the same few bronze literally whos and a bunch of those cards.

The problem isn't what the rates are, it's that collecting some item in order to have a random chance of unlocking some thing that's vital to gameplay is needlessly obtuse and making the things you unlock also random means that there can be no standard assumptions regarding the player's assets to weigh against the difficulty curve or what types of challenges to throw against them. Making those things characters is even worse because now you can't even have a proper story because who the fuck knows what people are currently in the player's party. The fact that they use these mechanics as a way to wring micropayments out of you is just the piss icing on the shit cake. The fact that one cake is floating in piss while the other is merely drenched in it doesn't really change anything.

That's a direct result of them not being able to know where the player stands. They dial everything back so the unlucky three stars can still get through while killing time on the way to work. The result being that the 5 star you spent a thousand bucks on is completely unnecessary for anything except maybe online play where everyone else is just using the same character, and in that case it's just an unreasonable barrier to entry.

Yes, I think that's the standard idea. But that is a complete disconnect between gameplay and story. They're just pausing your novel every few minutes to make you press a button a few times before you can keep reading. The fact that a single gameplay mechanic makes it impossible to tell a story without ignoring that mechanic, and subsequently every mechanic that relies on it, should tell you how shitty an idea it is to put that mechanic in your game.
