Finally started watching City Hunter last year and I've still been enjoying it immensely, currently in the 2nd season. Wonder why they avoided all the Angel Dust stuff though, even for the OVAs and movies.

City Hunter is favorite manga series of all time. It was the first one I read all the way through in Japanese.

First, the french dub tried to edit it to make it suitable for kids; given how city hunter is you can guess how well it went, and then a french comedy that ONLY focused on the crude humor (and in an exaggerated and unfunny way, at that) based on it was released a short while ago. The main actor looked like that. Needless to say, no muscle or charisma at all.

That's the problem. The movie was terrible and based on the french version to begin with, which was changed to be suitable into a children TV slot.

It's almost always skipped yes, except on extremely rare occasions. Add to that the fact that the dub itself dubbed all antagonist ridiculously on purpose to make the whole thing look less violent (with voices that sound like cartoony characters in the 60'/70') and the fact that the movie took all of that and made it worse, and voila.

Never let the french do an adaptation of anything. It'll always be a disaster.

I love the manga, I would never watch the anime but I have to imagine it's not nearly as good due to censoring but maybe I'm wrong. Hopefully the last five volumes of the manga get translated some day so I can finally decide if City Hunter is better than Cat's Eye.

He made me want to own a Colt Python. I've heard Colt will be producing them again soon, so that's cool.

Anime is definetely worth watching. Has a great soundtrack and great scenes that don't exist in the manga.
