I'll share some of the points I found interesting.
Apparently Murase was the actor who was the most in-sync with Ikuhara's direction and vision. He says episode 6 of Sarazanmai was the one that moved him the most. It reminded him of Sailor Moon R, directed by Ikuhara, and how all the pieces, the story, music, characters, and themes came together into one sublime package. Episode 6 really captures that essence.
When asked to describe Sarazanmai in a couple of words, Horie goes with "whimsical." Despite Sarazanmai's bizarre twists and turns, he thinks the general plot outline is relatively easy to understand and hopes those who found Ikuhara works somewhat difficult to watch are able enjoy this show. Murase says "salted vanilla ice cream." While vanilla ice cream is sweet and delicious, adding a little saltiness will make the whole profile even clearer.

The best thing of this anime are the OST and the backgrounds.

I only watched Utena and Penguindrum. You may call those show's directing unique, but the plot itself wasn't good. Just asking if that's the same case here.

It's less than half an hour out of your life, you might as well watch the first episode if you're curious. I definitely don't think it qualifies as fujobait, the sexuality and gender roles themes are pretty forward, fujobait usually involves a lot of dudes acting gay and never addressing it.
