He was working on a bonus story since last year, the Evileye backstory, for the people who bought the last season box set. He finally finished it and it should be out this month. This has caused work on Vol 14 to be pushed back and probably won't come out until the end of this year or the start of next year.

I believe it was suppose to be a continuation of that story where Ainz was there without Nazarick, yeah. The "sugar and spice and all that's nice route" in his words. It's likely an excuse to show off the history of the world as well as Evileye organically without info dumping in the actual story; given nobody in Nazarick really cares about random people in the NW or their history. I think we can expect heroes, demon gods, and Ainz becoming a pedophile.
