I think that's a great thing, partly because having a couple non-grounded characters means more things that can be done in a story, and also partly because it means the storyteller is able to focus on other things. The Phantom Troupe are a great example, Chrollo and Hisoka being the non-grounded characters as opposed to Nobunaga and Pakunoda as the grounded ones.
I'd say its a bit too early to say that for Gon, he's never gone through something like Kite death's in his entire life until Kite happened, and since then there hasn't been much of him in the story. His conversation with Ging, and how he felt about that afterwards, along with the fact that he's definitely crossing paths with someone like Gyro suggests a lot more self-reflection from him.
